FH planned a day out east for my birthday - vineyard hopping on the north fork. It was a beautiful day together, and finally it didn't rain! On our drive back home FH decided he was 'craving steamers' so off to Nicky's on the Bay we went. We arrived there to see my family, including my sister and niece from North Carolina to celebrate my birthday with us. In the middle of dinner, FH toasted to my birthday, and then asked my parents for my hand in marriage. With their whole hearted blessings, he got down on one knee and proposed. Of course, I said yes!
But I have to say the funniest thing... as we were all in happy excitement... my 6 year old nephew said... 'I thought they were already married!'
These stories are so sweet!!!!!
Now your user name makes total sense!!! SO cool... I haven't seen those shows but I want to watch!!! Very fun.

FUNNY STORY.....
This is my first christmas away from home.....and ive always had a real christmas tree. The night of December 5th it was POURING and he said lets get the christmas tree. I shouldve known somehting was up then. Well neway, we left it in his parents basement to dry for the night and at literally liek 8 am on the next morning (sunday) he woke me up and said lets put the tree up. I was like what its 8am lets sleep for antoher hour. So he brings the tree up and was acting weird. He gave me a big hug and told me how much he loved me. Now the whole time his hand was in his pants (which actually wasn't that weird bc he has his hands in his pants all the time, haha) Then he started fidgeting in his pants, i was like what the hell is he doing?? He gives me another big hug and says lets put the first ornament on the tree.... he pulls out the engagement ring and it was hanging from an ornament hook. All i could say was 'are you serious'???? bc hes a big joker. he was now down on one knee and i kept saying....'are you serious?'' And he tore his acl a month prior to that so it was difficult for him to go down on one knee and said 'can u just give me an answer, IM SERIOUS.....this kinda hurts.' So i finally said yes and started crying and of course his mom was listening at the door and came in.
The reason why he was figeting in his pants was bc the hook got stuck and he couldn't get it out, so literally for 5 minutes his hand was figeitng in his pants, it was funny.
the ironic thing is that my parents got engaged in front of thier christmas tree too and my fh didn't even know that

I never had a formal proposal. At the time we started planning we were together for 8 years and have a son together. We just figured lets plan it and pay for it. I just figured the ring would come when he could afford it. this past feb, the day of the big snow storm, since we were all home together which never happens we decided to go to the mall. He said lets go look at rings at zales. So I figured...not again. I was really tired of looking but i went anyway. I found a ring that i liked and keep going back to but him buying it was the farthest thing from my mind. just as i was getting ready to walk out he told the sales women....we'll take it. I almost fell out of the chair. i couldnt stop smiling......not really a proposal but still a moment
WHILE ON A VACATION IN LAS VEGAS CELEBRATING OUR 5 YEAR ANNIVERSARY ,DANIEL MADE RESERVATIONS FOR A ROMANTIC DINNER AT THE EIFFEL TOWER RESTAURANT. WHEN WE ARRIVED THERE THE MAITRE'D EXPLAINED TO US THAT OUR TABLE WAS NOT AVAILABLE YET, BUT WE COULD GO TO THE TOP OF THE TOWER AND BY THE TIME WE RETURNED THE TABLE SHOULD BE OPEN. AFTER CLOSING MY EYES THE ENTIRE TIME UP TO THE TOP OF THE TOWER, WE FINALLY ARRIVED 460 FEET ABOVE THE LAS VEGAS STRIP. DANNY THEN ENCOURAGED ME TO TAKE SOME PICTURES OF MY FAVORITE HOTEL. HE CALLED MY NAME AND WHEN I TURNED AROUND , HE WAS ON ONE KNEE AND EVERYONE ON THE OBSERVATION DECK WAS SPEECHLESS. EVERYONE WHO WAS GATHERED AROUND US WAITED FOR ME TO SAY YES AND WHEN I DID THE DECK WAS FILLED WITH APPLAUSE. IT WAS OUT OF THIS WORLD AMAZING. AFTER THE OBSERVATION DECK, WHEN WE RETURNED TO THE RESTAURANT, ALL THE STAFF ASKED TO SEE MY RING AND CONGRATULATED ME, AS THEY ALL WERE IN ON THE SURPRISE THE ENTIRE TIME.. WE WERE THEN BROUGHT TO THE BEST SEAT IN THE HOUSE, OVERLOOKING THE BELLAGIO FOUNTAINS. WHEN WE SAT DOWN THERE WERE A DOZEN ROSES ON THE TABLE AND A PERSONALIZED MENU WITH THE WORDS 'IN HONOR OF REN AND DANIELS ENGAGEMENT.' THE NIGHT WAS UNFORGETTABLE.

seriously each story made me tear up sooo soo cute,,,,
FH and I got engaged in Vermont-- we werent allowed to go on vacations together( even though we had been together almost 5 years, i have a super strict sicilian family) so i was completely surprised when he said he had asked my parents to take me away of course i suspected it but he was acting fine so i was like whatever its def not going to happen, I wore really frumpy clothes for the 6 hour car ride-- i didnt even match -- but when we got to Stowe we went straight to Mt Mansfield took the cable cars to the top of the mountain and had lunch up there -- afterwards we were walking around throwing snow at eachother we stopped at a big rock and he told me to stand on the rock and look out into the valley he wanted to take a picture so i did -- he called me Elizabeth which he never does (he usually calls me Lizzie) and when i turned he around he was on his knee-- i like many of the other girls said 'are you serious' like 5000 times and then said yes he even bough a bottle of champagne and glasses in his backpack!!! IT WAS AWESOMEE we got interviewed to be in the local paper because a writer had been up there with us it was just so cool and ill never ever forget it :)
