How did you decide on what date to get Married?

Ladies...I am curious to know why did you choose your wedding date? The reason being......

I will start my first wedding date choice was 09/04/04 or 09/05/04-but my dog died around that time and I got so depressed...so, I changed it for 07/31/04.....and coincedental enough...if you play with those #'s. It is my b-day and my year I was born. How ironic...

I always wanted a September wedding. Unfortunately, this Septemeber didn't work for us. We didn't want it on Labor Day weekend since that is when my cousin got married last year. Then came Sept 11 weekend and my dad was against that (had to listen since he is footing most of the bill). The two weekends after that fall within the Jewish High Holy Days so those were out since I am having a Rabbi and a Priest. So, we ended up with the first weekend of Oct.

We wanted good weather and I wanted to get married on a sunday.......poof wow, Labor day weekend

eta - people also have off the next day. My family is Caribbean so they may leave from my weding and go partyy someplace else until the parade

In our case we picked our date based on price and planned it around both our jobs . We didn't want to get married smack in the middle of the summer. FI didn't want me fretting over wedding planning during the summer so we decided to get married in the spring/summer cusp. As for choosing a Thursday night wedding- it was all about price. I've been to a thursday night wedding and yes bitched about it slightly but I went and had a great time. I figured it doesn't matter what day you chose to get married coz if you're important to others they will come.

It was mostly about money (although I do admit September is a great month to get married ) I really wanted my halll and the only way we could afford it was on a Sunday. I chose Labor Day Sunday because most people have off the following day!!!

We were aiming for March 7th (it was Grandma and Grandpa's anniversary and they were married over 50 years) but then it was cheaper to do it on the Sat afternoon....so we were happy with our very own date. But our jobs also played a role as it's slow enough that we could take the time off and it was before his softball season...he hates to miss a game!!

I've have always wanted an outdoor wedding with all the flowers in bloom. So that narrowed it down to spring or summer. Then we got prices for the months, and april & may was right before the prices shot up for 'wedding season' We decided that we were cut ting it close with april and the weather, so we decided on may. We didn't want to have our wedding on mother's day weekend, so we had a choice between two dates that were available at our hall. Based on the price difference between friday night and saturd ay night. We opted for the friday night. :) So....now we just have to cross our fingers that it doesn't rain or SNOW on our wedding day, so I can have my dream outdoor ceremony! But if it does, the inside ceremony is nice too.

And not to mention we wanted ample time for planning. We had about 1 1/2 years to plan. And it flew by! Less than 2 months to go now. It better stop SNOWING! i

I wanted a Cool Sept. wedding as well. But the halls were trying to offer me Sept. 11-- and my mom was not to happy. Also..there were other people who had issues with that date... Not to mention loosing a family pet. THe day my dog died was the day I got offered 07/31/04-- go figure!!!!

Not to mention..........i was so clueless about the different times of the year..with reception halls being low prices.... Ahhgggg......

I actually wanted a christmas eve wedding but my FI and family was against that. Not to mention his daughters b-day is 12/26. Ok, so my second choice was April, except that he cant take vacation that month because his boss goes away for the month. Let me add that because he works in heating he cant take off from 10/15 until sometime in April anyway. I did not want a summer wedding and 3 or 4 people we know got married in Sept. So, we picked the first weekend in Oct so we could take a HM and still be back by 10/15.

Another Labor Day weekend bride here. We originally were looking at July or August in the city b/c of price. But we ended up picking a place in LI figured if the prices were the same all summer out there, the weather might be better in Sept than in the summer. The dates they had available were 8/14 and 9/4 and after doing a Farmer's Almanac weather history search I picked 9/4.

My cousin is getting married in November, so we didn't want to be too close to them. Then Aug. 21 was a Saturday, and we thought it was perfect b/c we met on Dec. 21, and my parents' anniversary is Oct. 21, so we thought we'd stay with that theme. Then the hall we liked was only available Aug 14th.

well i always wanted an early october wedding...and my fh proposed in september, so we figured a year after so october 04, however since my parents are paying for the reception, i couldnt book the hall without them, and they dont live in the country...and they werent coming in for a visit till 2 months later....so i wanted to give them more time to save for the wedding...and we didnt want to wait until oct 05, so the earliest we went for is may 05....it came about to may 14th, bc my hall was available may 7 and may 14th, however the photographer i wanted was booked on may 7th....so therefore may 14th.

Our original date was 05/21/05, but we moved it up because of $$$. I always wanted a spring wedding, and 2 is FH favorite number so we picked April 2nd.

after weighing all pros and cons we elected to shoot for a saturday. i went with your same line of thinking and decided on september 18th. october 2nd is my birthday, so i elected to steer clear of that date

Our wedding date is the day we left for London together before we started dating. It was during that trip that I began to look at DH as more than a friend & started to develop romantc feelings for him..... 6 months later we began dating.

We love the summer but it is hard to have a wedding if it is 100 degrees out so we picked early June. Not much of a story, huh?

Mine is the first day of summer and the longest day of the year. So we will have such a great day, because it will be like the day does not end! FH and I both LOVE summer. So what, its a tuesday...like the Thurs wedding, if they are important they will be there.

I originally wanted October 1. Then I thought it'd be cool to do it on our anniversary, September 24 because that lands on a Friday. Well, I had no idea that September and October are actually expensive months, costing as much as May and June would. Then I decided on November 12 because November is cheaper, and I'd rather cooler weather than hot weather.
