Use an ATG 700 tape gun. It is a double sided 3m tape dispenser. It is what we used. You can find it on ebay and when your done, just sell it.
PS....this is what the pro's use for mats, invites, and framed art. 1 roll of tape is good for about 30-35 invites.

Posted by ggcopying another dumb question: if it is like a double sides tape, how do u 'tape' it. Do you tape around the edge and then make an 'X' in the middle? better method?
What I did was to apply it to the four edges of the paper (no X or anything else) and that's it. The Xyron tape is permanent like instantly, lol, so as long as you have the edges glued down, the middle will stay flat etc.
Posted by ggcopying thanks, make sense so it is very thin and you can't really feel it if you touch the paper afterward, right?
Oh yeah, super thin - you definitely can't see or feel it through the paper. I used mostly cardstock but I used lighter paper/cardstock for my blue mats and the glue didn't show through on anything.

DO NOT USE TACKY GLUE!!!!
I glued 10 invitations with this. They looked fine for 2 hours. I went to work, and when I came back 2 hours later, the glue (which is liquid), had seeped through the invitation, the matting, and the envelopment, creating an oil-slick tie-dye effect down the middle of my invitation, and a bend in the card underneath. . That's 3 sheets of cardstock. Thank god I got distracted and only glued 10 of them.
