How did you meet your FH

So how did you all meet your FH.

I met him on match.com. I almost did not go out with him because he is four years younger than me but something told me just to go......Almost a year and a half now I am SOOOOOOOOO excited I went.

FH and i have been friends since our teen years. Tried dating once back then, didn't work out for many different reasons. Four yrs ago we started hanging out again and totally hit it off and have been together ever since

FH and I grew up in different towns. We met at Summer Camp in 2001 when we were 15! Two years later (after we passed our road tests) we started hanging out more and decided to start dating. We had a long distance relationship for six years through college and medical school and now are engaged to be married March 31, 2012!

We went to high school together and we also worked together. We were friends for 3 years before dating and have been together for 41/2 years!!!

FH and I met online too and we just instantly connected. It was my first time talking/meeting someone from the site and I was terrified, but we fell in love super fast.

Got engaged this April after finding out I had to move away for a year due to work. I think he was planning on waiting until i got back to ask me (I was originally supposed to be gone for 6 mos), but when you know you know right :)

I came home for the weekend from college and a good friend of mine invited me to go out for her then boyfriend's birthday who happened to be FH best friend. While there FH and I met danced a little and talked. BUT

I had invited someone to meet me there so I kind of had to drift away from FH. So after that night I didn't see or here from FH until three months later.

Four months later happened to be July fourth weekend of 2006 and we have been together ever since

We met through a mutual friend who said he didn't think it would last

Now he is in our bridal party... 9 years later

I was on match! I met 1 crazy person on there so I was done with online dating. I mean really he was insane lol. I still worry he might show up one day with an machete. anyway I had a plentyoffish profile that I made to piss off my ex because we broke up after I found him on there! one day I logged on and saw a email from a pretty cute guy talking about horror movies and stuff so I responded but was so scared to meet him. especially after the match.com crazy boy.

finally I was like if you wanna come out with me and my girls to see New Moon you can... I was not meeting him alone. he came and met us and just yay for that lol. he even took me and my girls out to ice cream afterwards to win them over. I was pretty hungover so we didn't talk a lot but he was damn cute. and here we are 9 months later.... it's not years but when you know, you just know.

the cutest thing was the other day we were talking about our first emails and he was like I never thought a girl as beautiful as you would even write me back.

We meet on match.com too. In the beginning he didn't want a gf just someone to go out with. Not even a friend. I was looking for a sugardaddy or a friend with benefits. Yes, we were at a different parts in our lives, did it work out like that not even close. We click as real friends and now we are getting married in November.

mara: good thing you went. things like your story and mine makes me believe in everything happening for a reason :)

I almost didnt say yes when my fh asked me to be his gf. Ill post the story.

I started in January of 2005, working at a movie theatre part time, to make some money in high school before going to college. The first week I started, a bunch of new people started, being after the new year and college people going back to college.

One night, I was in the concession stand and started chatting with this guy, my now fh. At times I thought he was into me, and at times I thought he was really rude...he'd give me a hard time (now i know he was flirting but at the time i wasnt sure). I was in the midst of deciding what I wanted to do with college...go to maryland for school, go to geneseo or stay in ny. He constantly talked me through the situation at work..always having more pros for me to stay here..but made sure to have some pros for me to go. we grew..very slowly into work friends. not going to lie, i loved weekends, i loved going to work, to talk to him even for just a split second.

we fast foward to that june--he had been promoting, and was now a supervisor..made me kind of sad cause i thought our friendship would end now that we weren't working side by side.
i made my decision to go to maryland, got accepted, and was ready to go. one night i was working in the coffee stand for the first time...had no idea what i was doing..he was the only one that stood by me the whole entire night..i had to get out early that night of work..and he smiled at me and said 'no problem, just tell your mom i let you out to put a good word on it for.' i looked at him confusingly and said what do you care if she thinks highly of you..he laughed, and said, i dont of course, i was kidding..and that was the end of that...

next day he came in..he asked me if i saw the movie CRASH, i said no, he said okay we gotta see it...i thought he was kidding..so i ignored him lol.

The next day he came in and asked me for my number, i gave it to him. he didnt call for two days so i figured he wasnt interested and was just asking me for my number...

he called..we went to the movies...this lasted for about 2 weeks..when suddenly he asked me to be his gf.
i was going to say no because i was leaving in exactly 2 and a half months..my friends encouraged me to go for it saying that you never know and i could end it right before i left...

to shorten my really long story---that was june 18th 2005..5 years later, june 12th 2010 he proposed :)

LOL umm idk why i'm embarrased everytime I tell this story. We met off a teen chatline... Been together ever since

Yes made it fun when I worked there! we don't work together anymore.

A little off topic but how my FIL's got together is one of my favorites and I had to share...

FH has had about 5 step-moms in his life and is estranged from his real mom, all his dads marriages went poorly so FH has been really particular about marriage because he didn't want to turn out like his dad. However, his current (and last) step-mom has been married to FFIL for the past 8 years and FH calls her mom and everything.

When i met his family I fell in love, they were amazing and I had no idea how FFIL had made so many bad choices, and they told me their story.

When FIL's were in high school they were high school sweethearts, FFIL went into the Army and was being sent to Korea. He asked FMIL to marry him before he left but since she was a freshman in college she said no, he left and they never saw each other again.

Flash forward over 30 years later, FFIL's mother died, and FMIL saw the obituary in the paper. She realized he lived in the same city again, and called him to say hello and was sorry to hear about his mother. They met up, realized they were both divorced and started seeing each other immediately. He asked her to marry him again, and this time she said yes.

I'm so thankful that they found each other again because 1, they're so perfect for each other. And 2- it gave FH a reason to believe in love and marriage for practically the first time in his life.
