I was curious how you decided on colors for the bridesmaid dresses? Im VERY torn right now and not sure what to do. Everyone tells me (all my non married friends LOL) to step back from it and it will come to me but as you guys know I cant do that. Im obsessed with it! LOL I keep researching and researching but I cant put my finger on the colors I want. I want these colors to be the theme for the evening.
I am torn between 2 total opposites. So I was just curious how did you guys decide on this? Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Re: How Did You Pick Your Colors?
That was one thing I wasnt going to stress over. I went very simple- I went with our favorite colors. We both like blue so we are doing 2 shades of blue and ivory ,because I am wearing an ivory dress.

Re: How Did You Pick Your Colors?
I haven't actually picked colors or dresses yet, but I'm going with the autumn theme.
What colors are you thinking of? Do you have a favorite flower that you want to use? Or, what colors do you think would look good in your RH? That could be your starting point.

Re: How Did You Pick Your Colors?
I was leaning towards li8ke an olive green then I imagined what my pics would look like, just a big blob of doo doo green lol then I eventually decided that I wanted to do a butterfly theme, slowly it all fell together and my final decision was yellowish/gold and pink

Re: How Did You Pick Your Colors?
I can totally relate. I'm getting married new years eve and I think a long black BM dress would be so appropriate. I then have my mom telling me that it's going to look like a funeral! (totally not mean about it, just trying to persuade me otherwise) I try to chalk it up to her being old fashioned, but then again she's putting these thoughts in my head!!!
FH just asked me earlier today if all brides have as much trouble with BM dresses as I am, haha

Re: How Did You Pick Your Colors?
I was never hooked on any set of colors but I knew I needed something springy SO I went with a mauve pink- and a chocolate brown ribbon around the waist (which isn't that springy). Still not sure if I am in LOVE with the colors but I haven't looked for flowers yet. Maybe when I see how the flowers will look I will love the color arrangement.
I recently saw ( I think it was on WE last night) Chocolate brown tea length dresses and the girls had pink flowers and it looked really nice!

Dont feel bad I am having SUCH a hard time! I cant decide between dark colors vs light colors... Certain dresses look great in one color and horrible in another. And everyone has an opinion! LOL UGHHHH People tell me choose the dress first THEN the color. Then I have choose the color THEN the dress! I have no clue... Im stressin!

Re: How Did You Pick Your Colors?
not to mention some girls look great in some colors and not so hot in others! FH's have no idea how lucky they are. You and your boys just throw on a tux and look like studs.
I just keep telling myself it'll all work out and everyoone will look fab.

Re: How Did You Pick Your Colors?
i understand completely i have changed my colors at least 50 times! i finally decided on lavender just because it is summery and i am going to accent off of that like pale greens and yellows... i think i am going to do a knee length flowey black dress for the girls because they will all look good in black and then use the flowers to brighten it up.

Re: How Did You Pick Your Colors?
I wanted something timeless and a dress color that would flatter everyone. BLACK! It is also one of my favorite colors. At the time I was looking into this, all the Xmas stuff was in the stores, and a metallic champagne color kept popping up, which I loved. So I chose black dresses and had my aunt sew champagne sashes. I think the colors worked well for my winter wedding. pix in album

Re: How Did You Pick Your Colors?
I don't want an all white wedding dress so I had asked the designer (ordered online) for fabric swatches of colors. Seeing the actual swatches of what my dress would come close to looking like, as well as the BM's dresses made it very easy. I picked a 'Spice' color that I fell in love with. This happened to go well with the butterfly/sunflower/ garden theme(s) that I am still deciding between.

Re: How Did You Pick Your Colors?
Keep in mind I was a design major- Think of the big picture! Step back and think! Is this a color that frames me well? Would this be a color that I would wear personally! I know that I would never put my girls in a color that I would never wear. Remembering that I'm in white that day, and that I am depending on this color to make me look great! Also, you might want to take in to consideration- if this color scheme is classic and somewhat timeless looking! I would hate to look back at my pictures and say that they look dated! Just remember- the darker the bridesmaid dress color the more the bride is going to pop off of that picture, the softer the color, the less contrast between your gown and theirs!. Hope this helps!

Re: How Did You Pick Your Colors?
We're getting married in January, so we wanted to stay away from reds & greens because we didn't want the possibility that it would feel holiday-ish. We figured since it snows in January & it's cold, Blues, Silver, & Ivory -I'm wearing an Ivory dress- would be a pretty color palet to work with. The BMs will be in Indigo blue, the MOH/BM/FG/RB will wear Blue Jay blue, & we will incorporate silver & ivory into their flowers & jewelry & the decor at the wedding... We're just doing a snowflake theme I guess

Re: How Did You Pick Your Colors?
I agree that black makes everyone look good and I considered it because my girls are all different shapes and sizes AND all have different color skin from olive to really pale. I wanted to do a darker color so they would all feel comfortable. But because almost EVERYONE in my family always wears black to occasions (it’s an Italian thing) I wanted to make sure my girls stood out. So I finally decided on navy dresses with fuchsia flowers. It looks beautiful together and I’m sure my girls appreciate being in a darker color. I am also letting them choose their own dress. Long, short, sleeves, no sleeves, satin, chiffon, whatever.
