How do you make friends????

How do you make friends????

I'm actually really serious about the question - how do you all go about making friends??

I mean, it's so different when you're in school or at work or something, friendships jsut sort of happen. But when you're not, you have to, I guess join clubs or activities, or just stalk people in bars. It's pretty daunting!

Just wondering if anyone has any advice or could share their experiences?

(BTW, I have two girl-dates coming up )

I have made friends at the gym and the nail salon!

No clue!!! I have not made a friend since HS!!! Except on here and I don't think that's what you mean!

I have *work friends* but that's exactly what they are ... my friends AT work.


When are you coming back from the UK? We can be the Friends of The Friendless together!!!!!!

Some from work, others through girlfriend's of FH's friends (though it is hard going from the hanging out as a group to going shopping just a couple of girls...). I actually did meet some real-life friends on here--peabody wound up working in the building next to me! And we now have lunch a couple times a week...I got my Master's and thought I would meet people in class, but no one was at all social....It's really hard after college to make friends....A couple other LIW ladies live in my condo complex so I hope to meet them soon!

I have made friends through DH & his friends, scrapbooking and websites like LIW.

I met girls at work who have become my friends and then I have friends from work. I have 2 from college I have stayed in touch with.

I have the same problem. I have work friends like Wendy said but that friendship ends at 5:00 p.m.

I keep in touch with my one friend from when I went for my last two years of HS in Brooklyn, she is now in SI married for 5 years with 2 kids.

It's even hard for me to make friends on here, I guess because I am not that outgoing and I am kind of shy, I don't know how to make conversation...

I am one of those girls that cries constantly while watching t.v. when I see a touching moment. Whether it be from a family member (which I never had) or with the girls, etc.. I am so jealous of girls who have great friends like on 'Friends' or 'Sex and the City' I always dream one day that I will have that also.

we met an AWESOME couple in PETCO when we followed another lady with a Rottweiler puppy in the store.....we wanted to pet it! We sat there talking for an hour with them! They called on Fri night, but we couldn't make their bar date (to watch baseball) but they said to call them during the week to make plans!


ETA, otherwise I don't make friends easily....I'm very private, not shy, more private. I want the friends I have in NY! (and across the ocean!)

I've made friends with my good friends other friends... (did that make sense??)

I still have friends I went to HS with, and have actually become good friends with their college friends....

Other than that, primarily from work....

I have a very hard time making friends I work with mostly people in their 40s and 50s and do not have much in common with them. I also do not go to the gym or to get my nails done or anything that would expose me to other females. I wish I had more girlfriends

I'm in Riverhead, but I work in St. James. I don't mind giving people my im name. That's a good idea! My im is prncssrachel. Hopefully I will get my name changed back to that on here. I think I get step out from behind the numbers now
