Ok so yesterday i was surprised...at dinner don't remember what we were talking about but FH said 'oh you'll probably get pregnant during the HM' i said ha lets not plan anything, dont you want to wait? and he said no i wouldn't mind having a honeymoon baby. Now let me just say that we discussed this before and we both just agreed to not plan for anything. I said after 2 years we'll try, hes like thats long, maybe by 2009 to already be pregnant and if anything by the 2nd year have it...He also then said hey i wouldn't care if we had one now . I didn't even know what to say.
I want kids badly but i also thought we should wait a little bit lol. Who knew he had the itch
Oh and then he also told me i have to get pregnant May 29 2010 or 2011 i forgot so this way we have have a leap year baby lol...so on top of that im supposed to be popping one out after another
ETA: the part about him not caring if we had one now was just to show he really is ready and doesn't want to wait too long AFTER the wedding, no real intentions to have a kid now or him wanting to try for one before the wedding and i wont even consider it lol

FH definately wants babies, but not for a couple of years. I agree, especially since we'll both be finishing school in May and starting our careers, we'll have loans to pay back and won't be ready financially, and plus we can just enjoy being married for a while... and we're both young too, we'll be 24 when we get married. But then every time I see a baby I get the itch! We'll see, whenever we feel we're ready, we'll start trying! We know we definately want 2 or 3, and we definately want our first before we turn 30! And we both agree that we are staying away from D names entirely, and we are definately not naming our son Daniel... that would be way too confusing if all 3 of us almost had the same name! Daniel, Danielle and Daniel Jr. Miller!
i def think those that are in their early 20's should enjoy the marriage first, you have the luxury of being able to wait a couple of years

FH is definitely in the minority here but he really doesn't care about having kids. I honestly think that if i told him tomorrow that i never wanted to have kids he would be okay with it. On the other hand, he would be happy to start a family with me. . .
i dont know if this makes sense. But we have seriously discussed never having kids and we are kind of okay with that but we also want a family LOL i guess we are just going to try and leave it in God's hands and whatever He decides we will be thankful.
We are just so horrified with how kids behave today that it makes us not want to have to deal with it but then again we know that our own kids would never be like that.
I can see your point tilde. But dont let the behavior of other peoples children be the reason not to have kids. for the most part, being a teacher, you seet hat those kids who behave that way, do so because of their parents and the way they were brought up. You have a great head on your shoulders, you seem to have a stable family (from what ive read on here) and your FH is a great person. So right there you are ahead of the game. Look at what a great person you and FH are... your children will be that way if you raise them that way.

i completely understand what you are saying. . . of course we wouldn't let how other people raise their kids make our decision for us but it IS discouraging! obviously we have to look at many other factors as well!

I agree it is discouraging..
its like FH and I... Im a teacher and cert special ed.. although im gen ed i have been and will be working with spec ed children. FH is a school psychologist and works with autistic, down syndrome, learning disabled and emotionally disturbed children.. it scares the crap out of us to have a child, affraid that our child is might have autism or something else. There is def a lot to think about!

Hahah I knew what you meant! Some people want to wait, some a HM baby, others want to be 1-2 months preggers when they walk down the aisle. Everyone is different and you will figure out when the time is right.

Haha I just remembered something really funny today at work... FH and I work in the same pharmacy, and I was counting out prenatal vitamins and FH is like 'Those look cool' they were this pretty purple color, and i'm like 'haha yeah they are..' he's like 'you should take those kind whenever we have babies!'
Hmmm... he's thinking about prenatal vitamins, maybe we will have babies sooner, lol...

FH would have had babies years ago if i would have allowed it!! he loves children and cant wait to have his own. i definitely want to wait at least a bit. i work with children all day and by the end of the day i am burnt out. i know once its your own children its different, but im not in a rush yet.
im grateful though that FH is so good with children and is eager to be a dad. i think that is important!

but i also look at it from the other end... as much as I want kids.. I think im also going to want to enjoy (when that time comes) being older and retired and having the kids out of the house.. we dont want to be 70 with our kids still living home
i know its bad that i think like that already.. but i think of FHs dad.. he is about 51 or 52 now and he has a 10 yr old.

Yeah definately... there's no rush at all! We just might start trying a little sooner since women on my side of the family tend to have trouble becoming pregnant sometimes... so we might have to give ourselves some time!

EXACTLY ALso Fh says he is gonna coach his sons little league and teach them how to play, you need to be active so he thinks about this...then again his dad played until he was 55, Fh and his dad even played together and won championships together right before his dad stopped playing...He still plays basketball all the time though so hopefully FH will be the same

my mom was young, she got married at 18 and had me at 20 so i guess thats why i look at it different.
But it goes both ways, its like you said kids are embarassed of their parents regardless...I always loved that my mom was young but then when i got older you would get the OMG wow she was young when she had you
