How far in advance did you order your wedding dress??

Hi Ladies,

I was just wondering how far in advance most of you ordered your wedding dresses. I just moved to NC but the FH and I are getting married on Long Island and I'll be back this weekend looking around for one and was wondering if it was too early and what most of you did. Thanks for the help!!!

Ordered at the end of February, it came in the middle of June, my wedding is October 27th.

Bridal shops generally will tell you to order your dress no later than 8 months prior to your wedding.

For your June 2009 wedding, I'd wait until at least next May to start looking and thinking about ordering. Styles change from season to season, and if you order too far in advance, you run the risk of the dress being discontinued.

Ohhhh.....I know mines like 2 years away but I saw a dress I really love and was thinking about ordering it now since i'm afraid it would be discontinued by the time I was ready to order. Plus like i mentioned i'm living in NC now so its a bit harder too.

I got mine this past June and I am not getting married until next october, but the dress came in 4 months before it was supposed to. For a 2009 wedding I would definitely wait until next summer at least. If you wait until next fall you will probably see the spring 2009 dresses.

That is great advice! I was wondering the same thing too! I will wait until this time next summer to begin looking... But I'm really itching to try some gowns on now

Why wait? If you find a gown you love order it now and just make sure you have a seamstress to do your alts when the time comes and you store it in a place it wont get ruined.

I've been trying on dresses and looking for dresses and everything, if I find one Im in love with why not get it now? Right? OH and I lie when I go into the bridal place and tell them Im getting married next year instead of 09 lmao

HAHHAHAHA!!! I just ordered my dress and the wedding is 5 months away It's a Mori Lee and they think it will be here in 4 months and that gives me just enough time for rush alterations -- this is what being indecisive brings you!!

I ordrered my dress last week and my wedding is July 13, 2008. They said it could take 8 months to come in and then we need to do the alterations.

I am getting married in November of 2008 and I ordered my dress March 2007. It will be here in October. I fell in love with a Maggie Sottero 2006 dress and had to order it right away before it got discontinued!
