i traveled about an hour to my last job of three years. i left and now commute 20 min tops to my new job. and i am SOOO much happier.
of course i HATED that job.

Right now I'm only 2.5 miles from work, which usually takes 5-7 minutes!! I love that! But when FH and I move in together It will go way up to an hour...maybe a little more. FH works in queens and I work in Stony Brook. So if we pick a place in the middle like where he is now we will both have an hour commute but at least I wont have traffic going my way.
I do love my job and the people I work with. So I'm going to stay until I really find something better and closer. Gas is soooo expensive!!!

the farthest I've gone was from Brooklyn to Long Island and took me an hour each way. I would NEVER do it again. Needless to say, I'd never go farther than that.

I drive 40 minutes now. I hate driving. When I worked in the city I spent 40 minutes on the train and I loved it.

Right now I do two commutes...
When I'm at my place it's 20 min to my job from my Apt.
When I'm at FH's it's about 1.5 hrs. to my job from his place.
Once I move in with him it will be 1.5 hours I'm going to so miss my apt.!

I hate driving also...and once I move to FH's I have to drive to Ronkonkoma station..which isn't too bad but still i gotta drive.
FH drives 40-45 min. to work and it stinks

it depends on if i have to drive to work or take a train...
right now i work in the city so my commute is about an hour on the LIRR, (plus another 20 min on the subways) which i don't mind because i totally pass out the entire way to Penn Station...
If i had to drive for an hour, i don't think i would be able to do it! the traffic would drive me insane.

It depends if it was driving or taking the train. My commute into the city used to be an hour and a half from my parent's house (LIRR & subway), which wasn't bad, but kinda long, esp. if there were delays. But now I live in Great Neck, so it is down to an hour total, and I feel spoiled. It is totally tolerable. If I had to drive to work, I think tops I would travel is 45mins.

I see that some people said it depends on the salary. I commute 1.5 hours each way, each day.
No amount of $ is worth it.
I have to deal w/ all kinds of rude losers on the LIRR each day. I've seen people clipping their toenails, polishing their nails, yapping on their phones, listened to the most annoying ringtones, deal w/ loud Ipods, drunken jerks, late trains, people farting...just to name a few. By the time I get home, I eat and go to bed. It's no life!

My prob is I now live upstate. Their are not a lot of districts around me so I have to drive at least an hour to an hour and a half to get to some. I would say about an hour to an hour and a half but I dont have traffic!
