How happened to Valentinesbride Bridal Refelction thread?

Original post by skew

I was just reading it and now it's gone. Is it because she posted negative feedback? I don't understand.

Ladies, from what I know, your wording of these things, can get you sued. I think LIW may be trying to protect you.

well said...i found this out first hand!

one question though:

there were 2 other threads with negative feedback - one regarding a makeup artist who cancelled on a bride, (who's a vendor on her) and another about a 'bad dj' (who isn't a vendor on here).... both those threads didn't get deleted... ?????? why????

ETA: the thread about the makeup artist who cancelled got really vicious - I actually expected that one to get deleted, but it didn't.. ??

How is what she posted considered slander or libel?

The key word that defines these 2 words is 'FALSE DEFAMATION.' Only the bride and those that witnessed the incident really know if what was posted is factual. However, I highly doubt what she posted was false.

If the purpose of this board is to offer advice and personal expeience, we should be free to voice our opinions (good and bad).

Am I wrong?

I was also following these two threads bec. my daughter is waiting for her gown from BR to arrive as well. However, I just want to add another side to this. First, please understand not for A MOMENT do I doubt what Valentinesbride is saying.
What would prevent another vendor posing as a bride coming here and bashing someone else? My husband has a retail business and I know how long it takes to build a good reputation and how precious it is once it's achieved. How would we as consumers know which is a legitimate complaint and which is not? Again, I am not implying that is the case here. There will no doubt be a long list of gals waiting for FM's from Valentinegirl. I too would love to hear the outcome. I wish her all the luck in the world!

P.S. I sure would hate to be the decision maker at LIW when these things happen.

This has been an issue for a very long time (posting of negative feedback.) If it wasn't for us, this board would not exist. I think we should be able to share our negative experiences along w/ the positive. To be condemmed for posting negative feedback and harrassed by vendors via phone and email (in some incidents) is not fair.

I am sorry, but I have to totally disagree on this. This site is kept alive because the vendors are paying for their services, so we can enjoy it for free. If it was not for the VENDORS and ADVERTISERS this site would not exist.

I feel horrible for ValentineBrides experience, and the humiliation she endured...

She did post that her title may have been considered slanderous....so she tried to fix the situatuion...LIW does not delete a thread without lettting the person know why its being deleted. I think Ron and Liz do have a hard job deciding what is slander and what is just a bad experience...but they do a great job, and if it was not for all the advertisers advertising, we would not have a board at all...

If you look further into this site, it will say taht you are agreeing to make your info available to the vendors by being a member here. And beleive me, lots and lots of LIW girls have taken advantage of using the vendors that are offered...

I am sorry abount ValentineBrides horrible experience and I truly hope you get the justice and satisfaction that you deserve!

Word to the wise... This is not the first time that store has been on here in a negative light. So everyone be careful when receiving merchandise. I will.
