I always wanted a kick azz cake and like most of us, my cake is included in the RH. I am sure it is still Yummy, but obviously not the best of the best so to speak.
I have been to so many Weddings where guests don't even touch the cake.
Would you ladies spend the extra $$ to get what you wanted?

My FMIL is buying our cake for us as a gift even though it was included with our RH. We are getting it from Jacqueline's pastisserie in Babylon and it will be gorgeous. If you look at the Matha Stewart Weddings summer issue, it's the sailor valentine cake. It's so pretty!

Ha . Just had this conversation with my hall. Although the cake is included, I looked at their cake alblum and saw nothing that struck me. Soooo...I'm bringing in my own cake, thats to MY liking and that I know my guests will enjoy. Most of em are dessert eaters, so I will have NO problem with the cake being finished. I'd rather spend the extra money on a cake I KNOW my guests will enjoy, than having them say ewh! Afterall, it's the last thing your guests eat.

I'm going to go with what the RH provides we get to pick flavor etc..but we are having a V/Hr so cake wont be too important when you have other goodies..
Same here. We were thinking of going outside for our cake, but then we thought we are spening the extra money on all that other dessert, why spend more. The cake our RH provides will be fine.

The cake is not that important to me. I have been to so many wedding and I rarely even eat the cake. I am using the one the reception hall provides. It is nice enough for me.

I'll probably pay extra to 'upgrade' what they offer. I want something a bit more modern than what I've seem from my RH.

BEFORE the wedding planning i always said- helllll yea im gettin whatever cake I want, whatever price... but now that its down to the wire, theres NO WAY i can spend the extra $ on it, when my RH includes it in our package... and Ive seen some of their cakes and it looks like they can do the style i like anyway!

I'm a foodie..... as far as I'm concerned (and FH agrees), food and booze SHOULD cost the most at a wedding.... it keeps the masses happy....
Even thoguh a cake is included in our package, we opted to have bite-sized things from the caterer, and paid an additional $650 (for 70 people) for one pretty amazing cake.
We're loyal to our bakery! (Dortoni / bonne boulangerie)

one more thing:
Everyone should ask their halls who does their cakes.... most of the time, it's 'outsourced'. I know several really good bakeries that are under contract to provide cakes to major halls.... if you ask, they frequently will point you to the bakery, and give you a $$ allotment (ex. $500)... you can deal with the bakery directly to customize, and pay any added difference....

that's so funny.... FH's Polish family would talk if the vodka wasn't good (have to pay mega $$ for an ultra-premium bar to prevent that!!!)

Not incredibly important. I was happy to hear it was included with the RH. My reception hall has a deal where you can upgrade with one of their preferred vendors to get the cake you want. I would look into it at your hall.

Well my RH offers many lovely cakes. But if they didn't have one I was comletely in love with but was very happy with just not the complete tingles I don't think I'd spend the xtra $$. Certain things I had to pick and choose with and I am spending a good amount of money on photgrapher and band, as well as flowers so other thngs I can't be as picky with.

My RH makes the cake as well...they are associated with Audrey's Fine Baked Goods and Bakery in Sayville. so I have no worries since they make such an amazing cake

well I am just going with my RH's cake! we still get to pick the flavors and all.. and the cakes are pretty nice! I'm gonna decorate it anyway with my blingy cake topper!! And my florist is doing the flowers on it!!
