hope this isnt too much of a personal question..but do you guys plan on paying for the wedding?
we would like to use our tax return and I think i may have to borrow a little with student loan

My parents are helping out with the RH... FH's parents are paying for our photog/video... my aunt and uncle are paying for our flowers as a gift to us... my sister is buying my dress as a gift to me (too bad for FH!)... the rest we're paying for... tax returns, savings, FH's profit sharing, credit cards....

My parents are helping us out with the wedding. We put in some of the money but they're doing the majority of it.
For our honeymoon though, we're trying to put away money every two weeks with our paychecks. We opened up a joint savings account with ING since they offer more interest than the average bank. It's not much but every bit helps.

We are paying as the bills come in...our money is coming from our jobs. We do not have ANY help from either of our families. Everything right down to my gown will be paid for by us. We are NOT taking out any loans....if we did, we'd use it for the renovations on our new home...BUT, we do not want any debt. Everything is cash up front.

we had a two year engagement and each saved about $1000 a month in an ING direct account - we will be able to pay for the entire wedding in cash!! so excited about that
my parents helped with a few things like invitation, favors and my dress BUT we are paying for the majority of the wedding ourselves
the only thing we are putting on credit is our honeymoon bc credit cards have a kind of travel insurance on them - we are also getting separate travel insurance though - but we will pay that off when we get back anyway.

Cash for everything ... we have been saving and we will continue to for the next 15 months. We have been cutting back, saving wherever we can and are about 35% there already
Our parents are helping a little bit but we are paying for the majority ourselves. Its stressful but it will be our first BIG accomplishment together

just saving from each paycheck. So far i have paid the installments myself which has come out to $11,000 so far. The down payments for vendors Fh and I both paid different ones, only thing is Fh's parents gave us deposit for photographer. My parents did give me some towards the installments but a majority i put down. For the dress my dad gave me some for the deposit, i put the rest in and i will pay the balance.
The rest will be the same thing, we are just saving from each paycheck, our parents will contribute some and the rest Fh and I are paying

FH's grandma is loaning us the money. We will pay her back with the gifts we get (I'm hoping as her gift she says we don't have to pay her back..but i'll keep dreaming!!hahaha)

Yup same here.
just a little word of advice--try and budget as much as you can with your money. taking out a loan to pay off a wedding, can be a good idea in theory, but not the best idea in the long run. you don't want to start off your marriage in debt!
there is a certain pride that comes from when you pay everything on your own on the big day. when DH and i got married, and we walked into the reception room before everyone came in (we wanted a sneak peek--and you MUST do this--its great!) we saw all the tables setup with favors, CP's, menu's, etc. and we looked at each other and it was amazing. we just knew what the other one was thinking w/o saying it, 'We did this'.
(no disprespect to anyone whose mom's & dad's are paying--kudos to you guys--but for those who can't have that--its a good feeling to do on your own!)

Well here is what we are getting help with...
My Dad- Photo/Video My Mom and Stepdad- Flowers and Dress all that goes with it FILs- Limos and Rehearsal dinner
So the rest we are paying for. We've payed 5K so far to the RH and we payed that in cash. All the deposits to vendors we payed for and we payed in cash. I think for the big things we plan to pay as much in cash as we can and the littler things like invites and favors will be done with Credit cards.

My parents were originally just paying for our RH but my mom keeps going on these kicks so added to that is our flowers, dress and favors.
FH and I are paying for Photo/Video, DJ, cocktail hour music, invitations, limos and anything else I can think of.

We are living of my salary and saving his (and some of mine. My parents put down the deposit for the dress and we are paying for thr rest ourselves. Hi parents say they are going to try to help us out as much as they can- whatever that means- we don't know how much so we are not counting on anything. Whatever they give us will go towards house savings.
We scrimp and save- I get yelled at for spending $15 on a car wash...lol

paying for everything ourselves. just basically saving like crazy....FH sold his motorcycle, we are selling one of our cars and he is selling some property he invested in. Basically living paycheck to paycheck - paying bills and then putting everything else into an ING account and trying to pay as much with cash as possible (not that anyone I have encounted so far was even willing to take a credit card . )

we are getting 10k from my family, and 5k from his family, he also owns a business and are able to work out deals with many vendors. and the rest we pay cash for, i estimate it will come to around 40k with 135 guests
