How long after the wedding?

How long do you think you'll wait to TTC?

Re: How long after the wedding?

My own estimate is 2 years after the wedding. We've been together for almost 8 years now, over 9 at the wedding. We don't have any kids and I'll be 25 at the wedding and D will be 28. He wanted kids before he turned 30 but it's not looking likely.

We've only been married 2 months but are already trying. We're hoping to have one by our first wedding anniversary!

Re: How long after the wedding?

congrats NY Bride! 5-6 years apart isn't too big a gap. We want maybe 2 or 3 years.

Italia: happy trying! If I were well established in my career, I would definitely try after 6 months but I need to work for a bit before we can.

Re: How long after the wedding?

Probably at least 6 years because I am only 21 right now, I will be 22 when I get married. We want some alone time, and time to save some money and stuff..

Re: How long after the wedding?

I'm hoping to start trying on the honeymoon! I've had baby fever for a while now and DH will be 35 at the wedding and I will be 29. Plus, his parents had a lot of trouble conceiving him - so in case we run into this problem, I want to try sooner rather than later.

Re: How long after the wedding?

This is funny. My whole life, I have never, ever, ever wanted children. Now that i'm getting married, I really do now. I even asked him if we could try as soon as we get married. I'm really looking forward to it now. I remember my grandma told me that I would change my mind when I met the right person, and she was so right. Plus, seeing pictures of Amy's son melt my heart. Oh, what a gorgeous baby you have!!!!

Re: How long after the wedding?

Ha Ha seems my vote might not have been as accurate as I thought. Fh wants to TTC 2 years from now! So that would only be about 6 months or so after the wedding. I don't mind since I've been trying to curb my baby fever and if we buy our first house next year, we'll be all set!

Re: How long after the wedding?

We were both 30 when we got married but we need to wait since I have to finish my doctoral course work at least (would be great to also get the dissertation out ofthe way) and DH is also going back to school...minimum would be 2 years after wedding but we shall see.

Re: How long after the wedding?

I have horrible baby fever!!! But I'm 32 and will be 33 - almost 34 when we marry. I want to try right away and FH has suggested we do just that in the past, I just hope we'll be in the right financial picture to be able to. I don't want to work an all day job when I have kids... that's why I'm trying my hardest to get into real estate so I can make my own schedule by the time we're ready. I'm terrified it won't work out that way though and I'll have to work or put off having kids until my debt is gone as well as everyone telling me that my fertility is dropping by the minute!

I'm with ya! DH and I are both over 30 and both writing dissertations. We want kids so much, but we won't try until after we are both on our last chapters. Hopefully that will be right around the 1st anniversary mark!

We will probably start trying this fall. If I'm like my mom and aunt's I should get knocked up in no time.
