How long after you got engaged did you book your reception site?

I got engaged on May 11th and, while I have been doing a lot of research, I dont plan to book for another month or two....is that bad? I'm planning to get married in September or October of 2006.

I was engaged on 2/12/05 and we booked the hall on 3/14/05.

We booked our hall about two weeks after we got engaged.

like 2 1/2 weeks...but we literally went to a million places and a lot of our friends are getting married and his sisters just did so we eliminated a lot of places right away

We booked our hall within a month of getting engaged. We had done some research before we got engaged. We printed out all the reception sites on LIW and we talked about each one. Once we got engaged we already had it narrowed down to about 5. So if you plan on doing a lot of research it might take you a while to book a place.

We got engaged in Dec 02 and I think booked the reception in August 03 for our May 04 wedding.

We booked a little over 1 year after we got engaged And planned our wedding 2 years from then. We had a lot going on that time with moving back and forth from New York to Florida and then back. But it's finally here, 3 weeks.

We got engaged Nov 22 2004 and booked our hall by december - we wanted to make sure we locked in a good price so we actually got a 2006 wedding at a 2004 price - its saved us quite a bit of money since the prices go up every year.

I'd say try to book as soon as you can before prices change and to make sure you get the date you want if you have a specific date in mind!

We got engaged August 23 and booked our reception around October 10 (approx. one year before the wedding.) I think you're fine if you're look for Sept. or Oct. 06.

Got engaged on Dec. 24th ...went looking for places on Dec. 27th. Had a place and date by Dec. 29th

We got engaged on Thanksgiving 2004 but didn't really start looking until January 2005, and booked in February for a June 2006 wedding. It really depends on when you want it. We wanted a Saturday in June so we had to move fast, those nights go! But plenty of dates are still open at wonderful places!! April-October is the busy season so watch out, but doing it early locks in 2005 pricing before it goes up in 06! You should be fine researching places now, narrow down the ones you want to visit, then go see the top choices and book in about 1-2 months as you'd like. There's a lot out there, taking it in gradually is the best way not to be overwhelmed!!

I kind of knew where I wanted to get married already so it didn't take long. We booked pretty much exactly a month after we got engaged.

I had it narrowed down to two places, but one place was better in summer, and we wanted to get married in the fall so... it was an easy choice.

We got engaged 7/20/02 and booked the hall a few days before Halloween...I can't believe it was so long ago already!

I got engaged in Aug 2004, and booked my hall in March 2005. I wanted a Sept/Oct 2006 wedding and am now having it in November 2006, since the dates I wanted were booked at the halls I liked.
