How long after you got engaged did you book your reception site?

I got engaged on May 11th and, while I have been doing a lot of research, I dont plan to book for another month or two....is that bad? I'm planning to get married in September or October of 2006.

We got engaged July 5, 2004 booked our reception hall for October 30, 2005 a few days (4 days) after we got engaged. We both loved the WM and knew that was where we wanted to be married so it was an easy decision for us.

I booked mine hall about a month and a half after my engagement. I think you still have time. Do you know where you want to look?

We got engaged in Oct. '04, and found our reception site in Jan '05. It took us about three weeks to find a place--we didn't start looking until after the New Year.
We didn't have problems with the site or the minister, though the popular photographers mentioned on this site were all booked at that point. Still, I'm glad we took our time. We enjoyed just being engaged and not jumping into the planning immediately.

We didn't start looking for places until we were engaged for 1 1/2 months. We booked the 4th place we looked at.

We got engaged on 8/15/03 and booked the hall 7/31/04. We were originally going to get married in '06, but then last summer we decided that after waiting a year, 2 years was too long for us

I got engaged end of Oct and starting looking in January-I booked by April so almost 4 months but I wanted to take my time and do lots of research!

We booked 1 month after getting engaged. We knew we wanted it there before we were even engaged though.

We were engaged on Feb 13th, and we booked our hall on March 20th. I wasn't looking to do it so quickly, but we wanted to be married on a holiday weekend (Columbus 2006) and when we started calling around a bunch of places were booked already.

We booked our reception site after about 1 month after getting engaged...however, we were in France for 1 week after getting engaged and had plans for having our wedding in less than a year. Since we were looking for June or July of this year, and it was already August, we knew we had to book our reception hall quickly.

Thats so funny!! We got engaged Feb 20th and booked around that date in match!! We also werent going to books so quickly but since it was a holiday weekend and we fell in love with the place.... we just couldnt resist!

We booked about 2months after we became engaged. We waited over a month before we event started to look at halls. I did some internet research before, but it took about 2 weeks to find a hall.

We got engaged in oct '04 and booked our hall april '05. We didn't begin the search until January, and at first we wanted a destination wedding so it took longer than expected.

We booked it 10 months later!
We got engaged in Jan 2004, we booked in Nov 2004, to get married in Dec 2006, but now we may be postponing for Dec 2007. Long engagement!
