I got engaged in December, found my dress in January, ordered it in April. I only went to one store...it was the third dress I tried on.

I went the next week, but I am getting married 10 months after we got engaged.

I went to 4 places, but the first dress I tried on I wound up getting, because it was perfect.

I was 'officially' engaged (story) on 2/22/03...my first dress appointment is 5/7/03. I've been holding on to a dress (in my mind - & online) for 3 years now (when my sister 1st started planning her 2001 wedding in 2000).

I was engaged 14 months (got engaged Feb. 2002, ordered my dress in April 2003). I went dress shopping. I went to one store, tried on 4 dresses and then I picked mine.

I got engaged in November 2002, I started looking for a dress in late January 2003 for my September 2004 wedding. I KNOW, I KNOW..that was really far in advance. I actually wasn't REALLY looking, the Wedding Salon of Manhasset was having a Reem Acra trunk show so I made an appt. because I knew I wanted a Reem Acra dress and I knew I wanted to use the Wedding Salon and I was just really anxious to see Reem's new line. I ended up falling in love and getting a great deal so I ordered. I initially wasn't planning on looking until this summer!

We got engaged in Feb 2002 and I started looking for dresses in January 2003 and ordered it on Feb 15, 2003.

I went to about 9 stores.

Got engaged Oct 19th - started looking for a dress in December - went to a bunch of stores and still no dress. My wedding is in Sept so I am quickly running out of time. I haven't found 'the dress' yet. My advice - start looking as soon as possible.

I got engaged 5.5.02 - had my dress picked out for about 6 months before we got engaged, and my MIL bought it for me a month after we got engaged!

Six (6) months after I was engaged I seriously bought my dress. Engaged on Valentine's Day 2001 and bought it in August 2001 for our August 2002 wedding. Although prior to that I'd browse through bridal magazines and the internet for ideas and know the different types and styles out there. Also, I think I'd tried on 4 gowns which were similar in style and made my decision to select the 'perfect one.'

I think I went to 3 stores: David's Bridal, another one and end up buying it at Estelle's Dressy Dress in Farmingdale.

I went about two months after we were engaged and went to about six stores. I found my dress at the third store and knew I wanted it right away!

we got engaged 5/13/02. i bought my dress in december 2002. my mom and i went to two stores, but my dress was in the first store we went to (even though i didn't know it at the time - i went back to the first store to re-try on a dress and found my dress).

I started looking about a month after I booked the hall...so about 2 1/2 months after I got engaged. I found the style I wanted in the 2nd store, purchased a dress in the 3rd store. All in all it took me about 2 weeks to find a dress! I was surprisingly good about this.

I got engaged in March and found my dress in April...first and only store and actually the first dress I tried on. I did try on other dresses in the store after I tried on the first dress but I just loved the first one so I bought it.

I think it might be easier if you have no idea of what you are looking for and are open to different things.

we got engaged last July and our wedding is this july. I started looking for my dress in October and ordered it in December.

I just got the call yesterday my dress in and my 1st fitting is May 14th!

i had a long engagement but i finally started looking about 9 months before my wedding and many many many stores about 9 (not counting going back to some stores more than once!)!--it took about 4 months to come in........

I got engaged in December, found and ordered my dress by the end of January. It was the first and only store I went to. I always knew I wanted to go to this store though.

Engaged 12/00 found my dress 12/00 wasn't coming in to stores until 3/01 - ordered 3/01 - been sitting in storage at the salon since 1/02! 1st store I went to since it was the only one on LI that had that dress in

I was engaged 10 days, went to 2 stores...it was the 20th dress I tried on!! lol.
