To be honest we have been the best of friends for the better part of 12 years. So when he proposed after only 4 1/2 months of 'official' dating nobody was surprised.

first date: december 11th
that new years eve: i got the drunken 'i want to marry you, i'm saving for a ring' so i was like OMG!! but i felt the same way, even though it was such a short time--i was 100% sure. so the next day i asked if he remembered what he said (to give him the out) and he said of course, i want to marry you-- i meant it-- i would never say anything like that if i didn't mean it. the booz just gave me the guts b/c i was afraid i would scare you off.
it was so sweet so after saving his butt off for months i got my on june 23rd (just over a year ago) 2005... so about 2.5 WEEKS after we started dating was the 'proposal' and we knew we were going to get married-- and then after about 5-6 months came the actual ring-- b/c they are, as you all know, expensive haha.
ETA: I was 20 when we met and he first asked me and then I was 21 when i got the ring. i will be 23 when we are married b/c i just turned 22!!
he is 23 now, will be 25 when we get married.
