How long is your ceremony?

We are NOT having a mass and the ceremony is going to be 50 minutes long.

Re: How long is your ceremony?

Since we're going to have a justice of the peace do the ceremony at the same place as the reception, it's going to be bare bones minimum. Hopefully no longer than 15 mins!!! Just get us married and on to the party!

Re: How long is your ceremony?

That seems long to me. We are just having the ceremony too and I thought it should only be about 25 - 30 minutes long.

Re: How long is your ceremony?

We are getting married at the hall, so if Crest Hollow has anything to say about it, 7 minutes.

Priest/Cantor: 'Do you?'
Me: 'I do'
Priest/Cantor: 'Do you?'
Fi: 'Yeah!'
Priest/Cantor: 'Congrats lets eat!'

Seriously...it's 30 minutes. I've been to non-mass ceremonies in church, and they are usually between 30 and 45 minutes. I think the more extras you add like music, unity candle etc...the longer it gets.

Re: How long is your ceremony?

One of my Uncle's thanked me for having the shortest ceremony in our family 16&1/2 minutes according to him. I remember every second-I think it was the perfect length for us(we got married @ our reception site)

Re: How long is your ceremony?

Mine is also around 20-30 minutes. 50 minutes sounds long without a mass.

Re: How long is your ceremony?

FH is Eastern Rites Catholic. Its similar to Roman Catholic but instead of having statues, the church is filled with Icons. They also crown the bride and groom at the wedding which I believe signifies the king and queen of the household. I couldn't believe how long the ceremony is going to be. I almost fell out of my chair when he told us.

Re: How long is your ceremony?

I wish ours was only 30 minutes but I can't tell the priest to cut it short. FH wanted to have the ceremony in the hall too but I said no way.

Re: How long is your ceremony?

That ceremony sounds beautiful & unique-so I think you'll be fine. Your guests will be intrested in seeing 'something different', because honestly most wedding ceremonies I went to (before this year) were sort of boring with the exception of a few. 50 minutes is still better than my cousins 1 & 1/2 our full mass

Re: How long is your ceremony?

We are having a full mass - so it will probably be around 45 - 50 minutes.

Re: How long is your ceremony?

We're having a Greek Orthodox ceremony, not a mass (because I am Catholic) and the priest told us it was going to last 30 mins.

Re: How long is your ceremony?

Thanks RichsBride. I hope everyone finds it interesting since it will be a bit different.
Jenny5150, is yours a mass or just a long ceremony like mine?
