How many halls...

Re: How many halls...

4 - but we had originally scheduled appointments for more. It all depends on what you want. FH and I wanted one wedding at a time place so that knocked out a lot on our list. Also, price per person was a factor so that count down even more. so it really just depends on what you want. good luck with your hunt!

I've only looked at 2 so far and some in passing, but I feel like I'm going to book with my first choice.

When you know, you know.

We looked at 8 I think. The first day, I was so disappointed, didn't like ANY of them. But based on that trip, I was able to identify the things that were most important to me; beautiful grounds, exclusivity, one wedding at a time, etc. A friend then suggested I look at private country clubs and I had much better luck that time and booked one.

Ultimately, you should be picky. It's your wedding so you don't want to feel like you are setting if you don't have to.

CHCC was the first one we went to. I had done a TON of research re: pricing, location, reputation, size of hall, etc. BEFORE we went anywhere. That way, I was able to narrow the list down to 8.

Once we started going, we realized we needed a hospitality hour for our OOT guests (about 80 of them, assuming everyone comes) so that become one of the first questions we asked.

We went to see CHCC first, then Fox Hollow, North Ritz Club, Thatched Cottage, Swan Club, Jericho Terrace, Chateau Briand and Westbury Manor. Every time we went to a new place, FH an I kept comparing every place we went to to CHCC. FH looked at me after the first day an said, can't we just got back to CHCC and book? He gave me one more day of searching and then we booked CHCC.

so far we've only looked at 3 or 4 i think. We've been to TONS of weddings at other places so we knew if or if not we liked those.

GROOMZILLA is way picky so I think I'm in trouble since I'm trying to sway him from Land's End, even though I loved it. I'm just trying to save some $.

Next week we see another one and then I think we'll decide between Land's End (sigh) and possibly Lombardi's on the Bay if he likes it...which he wont.

You'll find your place, trust me.

i really like CHCC but FH isnt dead set on it.

He loves Chateau Briand, but i'm not 100% on it.
We're looking at harbour club tonight. And East Wind, Larkfrield Manor & Timber Point CC this weekend.

I love love love Chateau La Mer, but i've been engaged before and that was where we had booked, so I dont really want to go that route again for fear of bad luck lol

Re: How many halls...

Everyone is definitely different. I did a lot of research online and knew what decor I did not like. Also, the shape and size of the dance floor was extremely important to me.

We looked at three reception halls total. The first day was North Ritz Club and The Eastwind. I found things that I liked and didn't like about each of these.

The next day we went to Jericho Terrace and as soon as I walked into our room, I knew it was it. FH loved it and as soon as he saw my face, he got right into the negotiating. It took me by surprise, but I was and still am more than happy. :)

Good luck!!

Re: How many halls...

We only saw about 6 Halls and we went in with a laptop with all our questions. Finally choose the best one weighing the options and make sure you have the date or at least the month cause that helps.
Chateau Briand gave us the best deals especially since we choose to get married on a Thursday which is cheaper.

Re: How many halls...

I went to about 10 places. It got way to confusing! I even looked at more once I booked to be sure and I'm soo happy with my choice. I knew i wanted a place where i could take nice pictures outside but also my wedding is nov so it could possibly be cold. That was really my deciding factor. I didn't want a wood dance floor- i love the marble at villa lombardis and there cocktail room is very open - its an enclosed atrium which gives you the feel of an outside cocktail hr without it being outside. I loved flowerfields too but my friend got married there recently and wanted to have it somewhere where noone we knew was getting married.

I went to the following halls:
Westbury Manor
Woodbury Country Club
Jericho Terrace
Thatched Cottage
Beach Club Estate
Windows on the lake
Lombardis on the Sound
Swan Club
Drove past giorgios and east wind.

Finally decided on Villa Lombardis

Re: How many halls...

We looked at 5 in total. It came down to a number of factors - 1) Price, 2) Proximity to church and where we are taking photos, and 3) Just walking in and falling in love, and most importantly, feeling really comfortable with our BM.

The other halls didn't have all 3. Usually, the price wasn't right, (even if place was amazing, people were nice and location was good) some halls I just didn't feel comfortable sitting down and talking with. And I've learned with vendors that if you feel uncomfortable or getting the vibe that someone isn't listening to you or willing to work with you, then its time to go someplace else!

We looked at 4. My top choice was Crest Hollow Country Club and his was Chateau Briand. In the end we chose CB because it was more of our style and our banquet manager is awesome to deal with.

We just booked the first one we looked at. We saw two in total. We have both been to a bunch of weddings and had a pretty clear idea of the type of event we wanted. Good luck!
