How many halls did you see?

Original post by lilxolaur

Hi Brides!

How many halls did you visit before booking the venue?

Was there some major turnoffs at some of them?

Thanks in advance girls!

Re: How many halls did you see?

We saw 4....fell IN LOVE with the 3rd (literally....we both had the 'OMG this is where I am getting married feeling'. After we found the place, we both decided to try 1 more appt afterwards - then cancelled our remaining 3 appts and booked our dream place. FH and I couldnt be happier (well, maybe if the price was a bit cheaper....but, hey, we are only getting married once!) lol...

We visited the following venues:

Flowerfield
Swan Club
Woodbury Country Club
Thatched Cottage
Westbury Manor
North Ritz Club

I just new and had that 'feeling' the minute I walked in to the North Ritz Club.

All the places we visited were beautiful! I just didn't have the excitement and visual I had at the NRC. That's how I knew!

We fell in love with our hall before we even went to see it...they were open on the day we wanted so we didn't even bother making appointments anywhere else. We really just went to see if it matched up to what it looked like online.

So, just the one

We went to see 4 but in the past 3 years I have been to 20 weddings so I knew which places I didn't want to go to. I had no real turn offs at any of the places we looked at but when I walked into number 4 I just feel in love!!!

I saw 16.

Major turn offs: Pushy used car salesmen like BMs, BMs who didn't directly answer my questions, wedding factory feels, obnoxious BMs, cramped spaces, places with no bridal suites.

We saw 6...

The Vanderbilt Mansion
The Garden City Hotel
The Metropolitan
Westbury Manor
The Riviera
The Woodlands

but I have also been to numerous weddings at The Watermill, Jericho Terrace and CLM so once I saw The Woodlands I fell in love and knew I could rule them out.

Re: How many halls did you see?

We saw four and booked the fourth one.

The Woodlands
De Seversky
Venetian Yacht Club
North Ritz Club

It was definitely a tough decision for me, as all of the places were beautiful. The Woodlands we loved, but were concerned that if it rained, there wouldn't be much room for all 200 guests for the CH. De Seversky was amazing, but we weren't big fans of the separate dinner and dancing process. VYC had gorgeous views, great prices and a wonderful spread, but I just didn't get too excited about it.

When we walked into NRC, I immediately go the 'it's the one' feeling. Then I got the 'I've been here before feeling.' Turns out I went as my mother's guest to a wedding there about 5 years ago. At first I couldn't figure out whose wedding it was, so I facebook messaged the person that my gut was telling me. I did, and sure enough he got married there and was VERY happy. His review definitely helped make my decision

Just two: We loved the first one, put down some money to hold the date, and then took a look at a second one that same week just to have some sort of comparison. We both decided we loved the first one and didn't feel the need to look at any more!

I saw 4:

Chateau Briand
Jericho Terrace
Fox Hollow
Westbury Manor

We fell in love with 2 out of the 4 but because of room size and price we def picked Chateau Briand.

Re: How many halls did you see?

we saw 4.
the first hall we didnt like the set up of the rooms or where they would hold the ceremony
the 2nd one we kinda liked but i felt the pictures online looked a lot better than what it was. i also wasnt crazy how they would set up the ceremony
the 3rd hall was nice but the owner messed that one up. he busted in on our meeting with a BM and was all cocky and talking down about the halls we had seen...he acted like he was doing us a favor and gave us a crazy price that i wouldnt pay for that place
the 4th place was the hall we booked...we walked in and it was all over!
