How many halls did you visit before booking the venue?
Was there some major turnoffs at some of them?
Thanks in advance girls!

Re: How many halls did you see?
I saw.... lets see
N. Ritz Chateau La Mer The Swan Club The Woodlands Venetician Yacht Club VIP Club Glenn Island Harbor Club Beckwith Pointe Floral Terrace The Inn Douglaston Manor Westbury Manor Marina Del Rey Carlyle on the Green.
so.. 14 lol.
We booked the LAST one that we saw!
The first thing i was very critical of was the shape of the room. I needed something that was square/rectangular shape with the sweetheart table in the middle of the room. Some of the halls had a weird shape which i wasn't a fan of.
Then came the price of course.

Re: How many halls did you see?
Hi! I looked at the following RH:
-Westbury Manor( nice, but a bit pricey!) -The Sands(ugh, it reminded me of my high school auditorium, if uve checked it out, you know what i mean!) -Chateau La Mer (nice, but not big enough, in my opinion) -Fox Hollow(perfect! A beauty and within budget!)
I already knew what i was looking for when started...a few places i went to just b/c a friend of mine was checking them out so i tagged along. My fiancee wanted to do westbury manor b/c he's lved behing it for yrs but since he neglected to tell me and i found out...he was supposed to get married there with his ex-wench of a fiancee i put my foot down!!!! Fox hollow is beautiful( inside & out) were getting the Garden Terrace room, and since were booked on a sunday they threw in a suite next door for us for the night for free!!!how awesome!!!!!!
good luck with ur looking..definitely shop aound!!! but dont see too many b/c then u might get discouraged if you have a particular budget in mind.

Re: How many halls did you see?
I am so glad this was one of the first topics...I just came from seeing a reception hall and the guy was a douche. I really was so turned off by the experience. Plus, I wasn't crazy over the site to begin with. He was just pushy and put so many other halls down!!!!! I can't even tell you how turned off I am from that place and anything to do with it.

Re: How many halls did you see?
i saw 3 and the 3rd one we saw we, bookedDec 4,09 for , Villa Lombardis.
Now we are postpoing it until April, or May of 2010. We are still going to have it at Villa Lombardis. We saw Lombardis on the Bay, but we thought it was too small.

Re: How many halls did you see?
I made appointments for 7, physically saw 4, but talked on the phone with tons of questions to the 3 others and wound up canceling the appointments. The first one we saw we fell in love with and nothing else compared in terms of what we wanted.
Some of the turn offs were just the 'feel' of the location, they attitude of the BM speaking with/contacting us, and the capability and price of an outside ceremony as well as CH along with the 'rainy day' alternative.
The worst turn off was one hall that I called for information and they took it as a joke when I gave them my address. I had given them my PA address to send info (even though I was moving back to NY in a few months).

Re: How many halls did you see?
We saw 4...1 in the Bronx, 2 in LI and 1 in Queens. We only checked out the one in the Bronx, because FH wanted to just price it and see what they offered, but they were sooooo expensive it was sooo not worth it! Leonard's was our 2nd and we loved it and we only saw the others so that we can know for sure which we wanted!

Re: How many halls did you see?
we saw about 5. I was torn at the end, but decided to go for the one with the 'most bang for your buck:'
