How many halls did you visit before booking the venue?
Was there some major turnoffs at some of them?

I saw four...i fell in love with the people and the hall that I actually booked with. I didn't have any major turnoffs at any that I visited...just little things that I didn't like.

i went to see 6 :
North Ritz Club Thatched Cottage Stewart Manor Westbury Manor The Inn at New Hyde Park & Crest Hollow
I wanted a place that was one wedding at a time (all of the above places are with the exception of Crest Hollow), and a place nobody i know has ever been married at before, so my choices were limited
i fell in love with the North Ritz from the moment i saw it though
Thatched Cottage was a close second.. i loved their grounds & their cocktail hour... food was amazing, but i didn't think the dining room was big enough for the amount of people i wanted
no major turn offs with any of these places

we seen 5 in total. the one we stuck to was the 2nd one we saw and we loved it & knew this is it. :) But we had a few more appointment and needed to compare, since it was a bit pricey. So we went but couldn't stop thinking how much we like the sand castle.
But from the 5 we seen two were maybes, 2 were NOs (because of the small dance floor, cheap looking or old carpets and stuff), and the 1 yes!

We had appointments with 4 but only saw 2: Floral Terrace and Westbury Manor. No major turn off's at WM. Fell in love with FT the moment I saw the main ballroom.

I think I saw 12 or 13, I won't say names of those I did not like but the things that turned me off were rude BMs and just the overall feel of the place.

I saw about 6...At some of the places I knew it wasnt for us when I saw the decor and the rooms- nothing specifically turned me off at any of the places but they werent decorated the way we liked them...However when I went to one place they acted like they didnt need me and I needed them-and said no to little things that I wanted so that was a turnoff

We only wnet ot one. Had a great feeling about it and just went with it. This has seemed to happen to us with most of our vendors... i guess we are lucking out.

we saw 4, and booked with the 4th. when we saw the ceremony room at our hall, we just fell inlove. we knew we had to get married there! eventho it was the priciest one, the overall decor, the professionalism and the BM, we felt were the best. I kinda wish we have seen more, maybe we could've found a little cheaper pp pricing, but I love our hall too much to even think like that too much. what I didn't like about the other ones: at one the ceremony took place at the same room as the reception and that the parking lot was in the front, so the 1st thing that u saw was that. at another hall didn't like the decor and the smell (moldy), and how unprofessional the BM was (chewing gum and talking to us like she's our gf) and also the fact that when we asked to have CH before the ceremony, she said that she will need to ask the manager if that's ok at our 2nd choice the minimum was too high, so we didn't know if we can guarantee that.

Only saw two. Went to Hamlet Willow Creek first and loved everything except that they couldn't accommodate an outdoor ceremony. Went to Chateau La Mer next and loved it so much and booked on the spot.
We went to 3 - Sunset Harbour, Brentwood CC, and West Sayville CC. I was turned off by the woman at Sunset Harbour she seemed very aloof and uninterested in us, we just fell in love with West Sayville because its an old mansion and just loved the cozy feel of the place...

We went to see about 17. I saw 17, FH saw about 8.
We went during the wknds so we can get an idea of what it would be like traffic wise and crowd wise. Some turn offs: busy roads dirty bathrooms - particular a brown rim bowl in one RH
flies crowded entrance, with a bride waiting to walk in
a few other things, but that was the worst of it.
