Just curious to see if anyone else had RUDE guests. I had a few people come up with 'issues' at the very last minute and cancelled on us. One co worker even asked me if he could bring a date..I said yes..expected the 2 of them to be there & they never showed up! All total we paid for 8 people who never came...how bout you guys??

Re: How many 'no shows' did you have??
about 5... 2 of my cousins didnt bring dates, one of my husband's cousin didnt bring a date... (when they all said they were..) and my friend michael & guest didnt show up...
but we were under our minimum by a few people so we were already paying the min... If i was paying for 155 guests and they didnt show up I would have been pissed.
btw- my 2 cousins that didnt bring dates , didn't give us a gift neither... (not even a CARD!) grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr...

Re: How many 'no shows' did you have??
We had 6 but 3 of them let us know within the week of our wedding that they'd be unable to attend (one of which we were able to get a credit back from our hall because it was 5 days before). 2 were my uncle and his wife he had a panic attack (which he gets often) and was unable to make it and the last person was my mom's friend. She was 'sick' which I understood but have yet to hear from her about not attending. And she has had the nerve to send me junk email in the 3 weeks since so yesterday I sent her an email telling her my feelings And now I feel so much better!!!
eta - Also one of DH's friends (that I had never met) came with his 'wife' that I didn't even know he had. Akward moment because he came really late and when he told me he was a friend of Dh's I said 'Who are you?' and then I knew but when he introduced his wife I nearly fell over. Had to add another chair to that table. But if worked out and at least one of our no shows had been replaced sort of.

My friend guaranteed 150. 130 responded yes 110 showed up
So 20 people did not show that said they would on the day of But more importantly, she paid for 40 people that did not go.
I would faint if that happened to me - ANDDDD be super p*ssed.

I had a guest give us a bottle of champagne as a gift!! Am I the only one who finds that unusual?? Ummm we have a registry for a reason folks!!! lol Then one member of our bridal party gave us a card...thats it just a card
I guess I just have to remember that the cost of a plane ticket & attire for the day may have been too much hence the empty envelope. Oh my God I sound SO obnoxious dont I ???

You do, but I was thinking similar thoughts and know how obnoxious it is but COME ON... these people are from the tri state area and SHOULD know the deal.
DH's step sister, husband and child came to the wedding and gave us a 100 dollar gift card for BBB... which ROCKS... Buuuuuuuuuut if you think about it, it barely covered what it cost for us to have them there... i *hate* that I have those thoughts, but im being honest...

i am not there yet, but i am being honest too - i will have those thoughts as well, and i am preparing myself for those family members who have been known to be *ahem*... 'cheap'
but then again i am also preparing myself for those family members who are known to be *ahem* DRUNKS so in the end it should be quite entertaining
sorry for hijaking your thread sticky!!

None!
One couple called the week before the wedding, but she had to have emergency surgery -- so I don't count them!

Im gonna embrace the inner obnixious side just for this! lol
I wasnt surprised by what OOT guest gave because they really have no idea of the scale that we do things here..but some people....well lets just say that they should know better.
By the way...what would you do with an unsigned check from a guest?? We got one of those too

I'd call them, and ask if they wanted me to send it back to them or tear it up. You can't just ignore it, because they'll be waiting for the check to clear and think you've dropped the ball and messed up their checking account.

Re: How many 'no shows' did you have??
we had a total of 150 that rsvp'd yes......on the day of, we had someone come who had rsvp'd no, but it was ok since we had 7 no shows! 2 of them were MIL's friend- her husband went into the hospital so they couldn't come (which at least we found out before the day of), and then I had 3 friends who didn't bring their husbands for whatever reason. And then 2 friends who I was so surprised they didn't show since i went to their wedding last year......and then yesterday I got a card with a letter saying that her DH's uncle died on the morning of our wedding! so sad!! thank goodness I didn't call her & b*tch her out or something!! and she even sent a check which I wouldn't have really expected given the circumstances.

Unless they did it on purpose to seem like they gave a 'gift' knowing it may be too embarrassing for you to call them out on it... either way

Re: How many 'no shows' did you have??
We had 3 no shows but it was balanced out by the 2 people who rsvp'd no then showed up anyway. So technically I wound up paying for 1 person who didn't show up.
