How many of you are using your hall's recommended vendors?

I haven't used any of their recommended vendors yet. It seems like they actually charge more.

Is it actually better to used them?

I am using the house clergy...but he is a vendor here, so I didn't know he was the house clergy until after I met with him. I found him on this site.

only the invitations and my bridal gown (but I would have went there anyway)

OK rumor has it (please don't get mad a vendor actually told me this) - that you should not necessarily use the hall recommended vendor b/c the vendor has to give the hall a 'commission' for the referral - so the vendor has to give you a 'discount' and gives the hall their piece and still make $$ - therefore they actually start at a higher price to still come out ahead. Totally makes sense, but I don't know it to be true.

ETS: my best advice is to shop around and make your own decisions.

This is EXACTLY what the vendor from my hall told me. Did he think that would make him look any better? Honestly, he knew we were not going to book, he just wasn't what we were looking for. UGH, more people to feed now (and honestly, the free meals would have been the only perk!)

I am using two so far (photos and DJ) and now I am working on my florist. So far, for me at least, I have felt most comfortable with vendors who are reccomended. I think it really says something about a vendors professionalism, business practices and overall quality. I really believe that my hall wouldnt want hundreds of angry brides screaming at them because of the vendors they recommend.

I think your vendors are free/reduced if you use the recommended ones, but I think it depends on the hall you are using?

I kind of am. My photographer USED to work for the recommended photographer, but then he went out on his own.

My hall didn't have a recommended band, so I had no choice on that.

Snoogie, I know Watermill backs good vendors, they're pretty known for that. But my hall, it just seemed like, Oh, yeah, here's some people who you can call, and well, I guess we'll feed them for free

Thanks! I'm so excited, I liked it because not many people have heard of it, so it will be like a little surprise for them when they walk in That, and I need to pretend I live there for the day since I'll never have a house like that

I definately think it will be a surprise for the majority of your guests. I never heard of it until my co-worker got married there. Good for you! It will be so special and unique!

I am not using any. Nothing against the ones they recommended I just found ones that I clicked with better. My hall chgs half for their vendors and 1/3 off for the rest, so money wasnt an issue.
