HOW MANY OF YOU ARE...?

How many of you are using your hall's recommended vendors?

I haven't used any of their recommended vendors yet. It seems like they actually charge more.

Is it actually better to used them?

I am using about 4 or 5 of my halls vendors. And so far, I am very happy with all of them!

We arnt using any of the recommeded vendors... The halls pushes you to used them b/c they get a kick back on it. The hall told us if we use 3 or 4 out of 5 vendors they will upgrade the coctail hour. Big deal with the $$ I am saving I can upgrade it myself

I am not using any of them. I went to a vendor showcase and I wasn't impressed with any of the vendors, besides some of them being expensive!

OK rumor has it (please don't get mad a vendor actually told me this) - that you should not necessarily use the hall recommended vendor b/c the vendor has to give the hall a 'commission' for the referral - so the vendor has to give you a 'discount' and gives the hall their piece and still make $$ - therefore they actually start at a higher price to still come out ahead. Totally makes sense, but I don't know it to be true.

ETS: my best advice is to shop around and make your own decisions.


None - And i heard this from a few vendors too. Actually one told me that they pay 10,000 at the beginning of the year so that the hall would put them on their recommended vendor list. Plus they also have the give the hall a commission.

We are getting married at the Harbor Club. Our list has 5 or 6 vendors in each catergory that are all different price ranges. What I did was got through the lists and then ask about the vendors online here to see what kind of reputation. We went with Flowers Michelle, and Patken photography, but picked a dj that wasn't on the list with an excellent rep, decent price. For some reason we really didn't shop around much.
