How many people did you bring with you to look for wedding dresses?

The lady at the shop I plan on going to said I should bring my as few girls as possible, or else it gets confusing because they tend to pick the styles they like instaed of what truely looks good on you. She said I should just bring my mom (but she is in Heaven) ..so, I was thinking of bringing FMIL with me the first time, and then maybe the next time, bring my sisters and BM's. What did you ladies do?

I brought just my MOH...she's been my best friend since kindergarten.. (going on 9 years now). My mom passed away a year and half ago..and she has been there with me for everythign! I dragged her to about 50 stores to try on dresses! I keep tellin gher she needs to get engaged now so I can make it up to her LOL! Then I brought my grandma when I had it narrowed down to my top 2...since she said my gift was her paying for my dress!

The first time I tried on dresses, I brought my mom. She lives in FL now, but she came to NY for a weekend so we went then.
The 2nd time around I took my 2 aunts with me.
The 3rd time, I took a friend who wasn't in the BP...

The first time I went with my mom and 1 bridesmaid. Then I went with my mom and 2 bridesmaids and when I finally had it narrowed down to 2 dresses I went with my mom, FMIL and one Bridesmaid and I wound up picking a dress that wasn't part of hte final 2 but was by the same designer.

sorry about your mom - i would say fo rthe first time maybe just bring your sisters - if you really get along well with FMIL then i would say bring her too

i dont get along with FMIL to say the least so for me, I would never even think to bring her - i guess it depends on your relationship

Well...the first time was just my MOH, Jr. Bridesmaid and Mom. Then we added my other MOH and my other Jr. Bridesmaid the second time! Then the next time we brought all the little ones- the 2 JR Bms and the 1 FG!! And finally, my poor Jr. Usher had to be lugged along for the final appointments! Poor guy, but he was soooo sweet!! he is gonna make the perfect husband some day. I always told him if he wasn't my nephew I'd totally marry him!

I would bring your FMIL- and maybe then your MOH when its time to make the final decision!


I am so sorry about your mom, sometimes life really isnt fair. But she will be with you on your special day, just in a different way.

the 1st time I went with my mom and MOH, then the 2nd time I went with FMIL and MOH. I ended up finding my dress that day, so I went back with just my mom to show it to her, then order it.

I went with 2 good friends and my MOH which happens to be my sister in law --- When they all agreed on the dress & I saw the looks on their faces equaled the joy in mine -- I knew it was the one.....

Bring whom you trust. It doesn't matter how many people.... You will know how you feel in a dress and then you will only be looking for confirmation.

I brought my mom, FMIL, MOH and my aunt....and even that became difficult b/c 2 people liked one dress and 2 people liked another dress...but in the end I went with the one that made me cry-but it was hard b/c you are always thinking in the back of your head-'why didn't they like this dress'...my advice go with 1 or 2 people...
