paying for invitations. I just got a quote for $1000, 120 invites the whole deal. is this reasonable or should I definetly keep shopping around. I mean don't people read them take a second look at them the day of the wedding and throw them away. what do you ladies think?

I know..I got a quote for $1800 for invitations that we absolutely love....was wondering how outrageous this really is or if it is somewhat reasonable in the world of invitations?

Paid $250 for mine, very traditional and basic other than being on red cardstock and having a monogram.
I fell in love with a lot of invitations that were 800+, but in the grand scheme of things, I really couldn't justify spending that amount when we're paying for everything ourselves!!

I feel you girls, I just want something simple and nice. Monogramed with off-white and red or gold. when the lady gave me the quote I think my face dropped but I said wow what if I wanted something out of the ordinary. What the quote have been $3000. I can't even tell my FI about the quote he'll probably laugh at me. Just needed to vent!!

You might be able to get it to be less if you really love the invitations. That is how much we were originally quoted to get the invitations exactly as they were in teh book. We decided to do simple rsvp & reception cards which believe it or not brought the total to $1200 for 175 invites. Still crazy but they were the ones we loved & didn't see anything else we liked.

i think that is insane for invites - are you kidding me ? we paid like $110 for the whole deal - the invited both envelopes response cards adn envelopes - all of it - i think you are getting ripped off.

I have seen all different ranges.... I think we will wind up spending about $800... There are some who get them for $200, and some who get them for $2000..so I figure thats kind of in the middle... It does kind of hurt though because you know they are just going to get thrown out... But then again, everything about your wedding only lasts for a few hours...

We paid $200 for 100 invites and I really liked them. Most people just end up throwing them out anyway.

mine were about $1400 for the invites and names printed in mathing font on the envelopes
Mine also have ribbon- which adds and I also had to pay extra to get the ribbon tied

This is not an area I wanted to spend a great deal on. My invites are very formal, simple, Ecru with Gold wording. I need to cut corners somewhere so that I can afford that $700 chocolate fountain.

To be honest, I don't think it's that insane, but it depends on the invite. I spent more than that on invites but they are really thick and so on. You can DEFINITELY find invites that are a lot cheaper of course... It all depends on what you are looking for.
