So how are you ladies saving money for the wedding? I like these girls who are spending less than 30!! How are you doing it?
I am doing a lot of things DIY
I found the most reasonable reception halls, photographers, limos, and etc....Im just not going for the first thing i see...and they can still be nice.
my parents are catering my food because they are caterers
my grandmother buying the cake
all my accessories such as RB pillow, FG basket, cake and knife set, wedding arch, centerpieces are coming from Michaels and Joann Fabrics
favors are bought at discount mugs
so i just been really looking around and getting lots of help from my fellow brides to be

ok, so to clarify... when you say your grandma is buying your cake and your parents are catering the food, are you not counting those in the total cost? just curious! i know being out of state can save a lot but im amazed by how many people are keeping costs so low

Re: How much are you paying STOLEN POLL
You know what the prob is why a majority of the people pay so much?.... This site makes u feel like 5k is the norm for photo and at least 3k for flowers... blah blah blah etc etc etc
If most of us would get away from this site and look at outside vendors, my thought is that you just may find better deals.... but the word of mouth on this site is overwhelming and thats why some of these vendors can charge so freakin much and get the price they are asking!!!! It really amazes me

Ah ok, that makes sense. My parents are paying for the reception, so if I only counted what FH and I are paying for it would be a lot lower too. Also, my mom did our invites because she can order them at-cost. When I calculated I added up the entire cost regardless of who is paying for each part.
I guess having 200+ guests also adds up. My dad has a huge family (his father was one of 6, they all have kids)

I am having a 50-60 guests b/c I dont see the need to invite everyone and their momma (sorry but I think is the first place everyon can cut cost) on palm sunday (yes i was raised catholic but I need to cut cost one way or the other). the only thing I am splurging is in the photographer because pictures are very important to me... we are getting married at the RH.

still sounds like you are doing a good job at keeping costs down though
What are you doing for favors? We've changed our mind 20x so far and we want to do something that isn't too expensive, maybe $1-2 each or not much more than that

Excellent point Mazz!!! I'm almost afraid to look anywhere else that hasn't been mentioned here because if they're not good enough to be mentioned on LIW, then maybe they're just not good. I will definitely be keeping an open mind from now on! Thanks for bringing it up!

Re: How much are you paying STOLEN POLL
another thing....LIW is not the only place to look for vendors...I know that they are nice but its good to research around and look for differnt quotes from others....and you never know if u try they might do excellent work!
When i went to bridal shows....im looking at those people like they were crazy...i cant beleive how expensive people were....so i look in the yellow pages and started researching on my own

Im spending alot Im also having a large wedding at least 250 guests & its a Saturday evening.
As for my HM we are looking into Bora Bora, Fiji or possibly South Africa. I want to get that booked by the end of April or May.
We're looking into the same for HM, and also Tahiti. We are really interested in one of the overwater bungalows. I've seen some good deals online, so i'm hoping when we finally sit down with a travel agent, it won't be as bas as we inititally thought!
