We were told that $750 is the 'donation' across the city and long island. It seems really steep to me. What are you ladies paying for RC church?

Re: How much did your church cost?
Mine is $250 fee. Then additional $250 for music. And we have to decorate ourselves (no flowers are in the church on Fridays so we have to bring our own). Also, we aren't allowed to do an aisle runner which kind of *****, but I'll get over it.
Thinking I might just do two floral pieces for the altar and then maybe bows on 3-4 pews to cut costs.

It really kills me to think about it. I understand a 'suggested donation' but the figure is in the pamphlet we got.

Re: How much did your church cost?
Just got my church's wedding packet today. Not a RC church, but a Protestant church on LI. $575 NOT including an 'honorarium' to the pastor on top of her fee. No aisle runner allowed. Also says no photos w/ flashes allowed during ceremony????

Re: How much did your church cost?
I am paying 450 for the church and that is with the music... I have to pay an additional 75 for pre-cana. I thought this was a lot but my friend paid 750 for her church.

Re: How much did your church cost?
The church donation may seem high, but bear in mind that the church relies on donations to keep it up and running. RHs charge a ceremony fee and you would have to also hire an officiant. When you look at it from that point of view, the donation isn't really all that bad.

Re: How much did your church cost?
Wow it seems as if a RC church is cheaper than an episcopal church. My church is costing me 1950 is it too late to become Catholic?

I've seen both yes and no answers on this. Personally if it;'s a deacon I think I might but we had a priest and because of old school being brought up that they took vow of poverty I felt funny to give him money. So bought him a gift afterward. I'm sure he'd rather have had the cash . . . but it just felt counter to do that.
Don't know if that helps any. Maybe go with your gut feeling like I did.
