How much did you/will you spend on...

Flowers?

I met with a planner yesterday (she is free w/my package) and she told me that generally people budget $2000 for flowers....I think my heart stopped for a second. Flowers...they die, I won't have them forever. Just to make a table look pretty?

we wanted to stay around $2000 with all of our flowers - we got everything that we wanted and we stayed just under $3000... yea they will only last 1 day - but we are only getting married once.. i guess it justifies splurging a little

I guess for me there are so many other things I would rather splurge on...

Budgeted 2k, but ended up spending 3k.
IMO they are a huge impact on the decor and the overall feel of the wedding.

that is about what i am paying. maybe you could reduce the price by having a very simple centerpiece and doing mostly candles (can DIY). if you do candles i'd suggest first finding out what your venue's regulations are. mine just requires that thye are sitting on top of something or in a votive

or, maybe you can skip the flower centerpiece altogether, just do candles, and sprinkle rose petals around the candles on the table. i'd think loose rose petals would be cheaper from the florist maybe?

ETA: I've also read that bunching your favors together in the center of the table would fill the space and make it pretty - perhaps putting some pretty ribbons or silk flowers on the favors would give the flower look, but would be less expensive? i don't think flowers are absolutely necessary myself. sure they are pretty but if you're on a budget or prefer allocating your funds to other things, there are ways around it! IMHO!

and to my surprise we are doing all flowers that are in season (cherry blossoms, tulips, peonys) - and they came out to be so much, but we wanted accents like the halls lined with rose petals, the staircases lined with rosepetals (along the walls) - and the pergola to go over the altar, etc.. the little things add on.. but if you want to save $$ - some places can do whatever flower you want for the same price - i would check out burtons - we originally went with them and then moved to Verbena - even tho a little more - just felt a little more personal service with Jen

I LOVE candles but I am having a daytime wedding and I think that there isn't really a purpose for them during the day.

I completely agree with you. To spend 2k on something that is going to die the next day is ridiculous. We are going to do something similar to this to cut on the cost of flowers:

I totally agree with you! I STILL haven't met with any florists because I just think that much $$$ is totally crazy. Although I don't mind splurging on other things!

Plus, for environmental reasons, it's not very 'us' to do the traditional flowers. We are ALSO having a day wedding and think that candles won't work. Maybe as part of the CP, but definitely not the whole thing.

I saw your other post too. Let me know if you find anything! I'll still be searching and will post when I finally figure it out.

Good luck!

i am doing a princess theme wedding and chose sandcastles as the centerpieces.. and will surround them with rose petals and floating candles in votives... u can opt out of the candles bc its a day wedding but the sandcastles only came to $45/per piece

2,000?! That's crazy! I haven't started shopping for flowers, but I hope that's not the avg price. BTW Are you getting married at Fox Hollow? I only asked bc you mentioned the planner comes with your package and I know they offer that service there.

I spent 1700, I would say 2k is a pretty nice budget if you dont go crazy. I can see how 3k could be easily spent.
