I met with a planner yesterday (she is free w/my package) and she told me that generally people budget $2000 for flowers....I think my heart stopped for a second. Flowers...they die, I won't have them forever. Just to make a table look pretty? How much did you spend?

2,000?! That's crazy! I haven't started shopping for flowers, but I hope that's not the avg price. BTW Are you getting married at Fox Hollow? I only asked bc you mentioned the planner comes with your package and I know they offer that service there.
I am getting married at East Wind in the Coutnry Gardens. But I love that I get a wedding planner- it is great!

you can cut down the price by using cheaper flowers, buying your own vases and using more candles than flowers (and buying those yourself too). Try verbena, they're a vendor on this site and she works very hard to work within your budget

we really budgeted for flowers bc of the same reasoning you had. we were not going to blow a few thousand on flowers that die in a couple days. we'd rather spend that money elsewhere. verbena had great prices and we got everything we wanted for about 1200. they work with any budget. i LOVED my flowers.

I LOVE candles but I am having a daytime wedding and I think that there isn't really a purpose for them during the day.
hmmm...daytime wedding....if i see anything good i will write again.

We are spending $3k but that could go up a bit. Fh thinks its stupid to spend all that money on dead flowers, but once I saw them in our room, it was just gorgeous and I decided to splurge.

$700.... it was just for me and the BP bouquets and corasages and two arrangements for church. my hall provded centerpieces.
Honestly, floewrs die. if you're on a budget, flowers is such an easy way to save money... skip 'em!

You could do potted plants/flowers for centerpeices- that would save you a ton & you can generally get them at home depot- I would just wrap the base in pretty paper hthhome depot

We spent $1000 BUT we are not paying for centerpieces we are using whats included with the hall. I only did for the BP - we have a large BP of 20 people also.
I wouldnt go crazy with centerpieces. Flowers are beautiful no matter what and all reception halls are beautiful - its not necessary!!

We went with Verbena and are spending $1200. We told her that we were looking for less expensive flowers and centerpieces. We loved what she came up with and the price was great. Our centerpieces are simple but pretty. We are using candles as part of it even though we are having a daytime wedding. I still think it will look really nice!

Re: How much did you/will you spend on...
we didnt want to spend alot either. we spent most of our money on the bouquets, and didn't really care that much about centerpieces, so we did a mix of candles and flowers on the tables. our total costs were about 1000

Thanks everyone. I will let you know how it turns out... I have to start making some decisions considering that the wedding is less than a year away.
The in house florist is running a $1200 Calllilly deal- which is great because I was thinking about using calla lillies but I dont know... it includes Bo-k's (but not enough for everyone), centerpieces and Bouts but I dont know. I may need more color than Calla's can provide!
