We have an E party to go to this weekend. Its at a restaurant not a hall. FH is annoyed b/c the groom to be is one of his groomsmen but the B2B didn't even say congratulations to us when we got engaged. Either way I have no clue what is appropriate to give... I cant ask fh's family b/c they are sooo overly generous and we don't have the money to be overly generous right now. TIA!

We gave $100 to one of our friends at their e-party. It was at a VFW hall.

I actually agree with the $100 suggestion. That's my rule of thumb for e-parties, bridal showers, baby showers, christenings.
Do they have a registry? Cany you get them something off it in the $100 range?
Don't forget that these things add up - eparty, shower, wedding. And if you are invited to one I'm sure you'll be invited to all.

I think $200 is a good amount for an e-party. We had ours at a restaurant in the city and the average we got was $100 per couple..some close friends gave us $150, I don't remember if anyone gave $200.

Maybe go to the outlets and get something on sale that looks like it costs more- or Macy's has good sales too sometimes.

I think that's overly generous. It's the e-party, not the reception.
Find out if they are registered and by something off the registry.

I also really agree with it adding up between the eparty and shower and wedding!!! it never ends! lol Its just that compared to what everyone else in the family is giving $200 seems cheap let alone $100.

People should be understanding that you are also getting married and have a child. If people say you're cheap then screw them!
If you can afford to give them $200, do it bc that's how much you want to give not bc everyone else is. JMO

We got gifts ranging from $50-150 depending on the BP's situation for our e-party we thought they were all very generous. I always say to give what you can afford if they are your friends then they should understand your situation and appreciate your generosity

Thats a good point actually. We will probably give about 300 for the wedding b/c I know they are paying $150 a plate. We didnt have an e party. FH is annoyed b/c they arent even paying for the wedding lol. Their parents are paying for it so hes like well why do they need to have an engagement party?? to pay off the honeymoon? lol and a 100 person Eparty at that!

that's why we didn't have an E-party - I felt badly asking people for more gifts when they'd have to also give a shower gift and wedding gift too all within a 6 month period !

well they arent getting married till late 2006 so its not that bad.
Thats the same reason I didnt have an Eparty even though it would have been 2 years apart.

I wouldn't give more than 100. It gets to be way to much with the eparty, shower and then the wedding.
That's why we did not have an eparty. I think it is to much to ask from people.

I 100% agree with you about it being to much to ask of people. Im going to talk to fh about it maybe well put 150 -200. It is 3 of us. ( but I dont know if they would have to pay for a 16 month old)
