how much does precana cost?

for once, FH suggests i ask the LIW girls something...

we just got out letter in the mail on friday from FH's church telling us our precana is in january. at the bottom of the letter, it states that people shouldn't bring payment because that is included in the 'donation' to use the church for the church ceremony.

problem is, we're not getting married in his church. we're getting married at my church (i'm presbyterian) and we're just doing this so our marriage is at least recognized by his church.

i'm not against paying for the class, but i don't want to pay the full 'donation' fee if we're not using the church for the ceremony.

ours was $85 dollars for about the six week thing. It was $250 for the weekend thing.

It depends on the parish..mine was $75 but I know most people have paid more

BTW...that is not the donation for the church its just for the Pre Cana....donation is seperate

I'm not quite sure yet how much ours is going to be but we also got a letter that our Pre Cana would be starting in January and it said a $35 registration fee was due at the first meeting.

Ours was $250 - two Sundays in a row - 9AM-4PM.

I paid 75, but got quotes from several chirches because i was desperate to find a precana session and they gave me the prices with the dates.... (we got kicked out of our church's precana)...
What church are you taking it at?

whoas, the cost varies so much! I wonder if we can get away with paying 100-150...

we're scheduled to take it on the 21st at St Cyril in Deer Park.

We paid $155 for a one day class through the Archdiocese of NY (we couldn't do the one offered through my parish because it was a multi-night one and my FH is in the FDNY so his schedule varies). We did it in December because it was changing to a 2 day format in 2006 and when you signed up for the first day, you had to pick the second day then and with his schedule it's tough. The price for that one is $195.

I can't believe how much we had to pay!!! $250 for the Dociese of Rockville Center. And they do not offer a one day thing, only both Sat. and Sunday, I couldn't believe it when I saw the price. Now I am upset when I see everyone else paid soooo much less???!!!!

I hear that. I was told I have to go six nights. I would rather get it over with in one day, but that isn't an option for us unless we want to spend the %600 bucks for the overnight precana retreat. No thanks. I'll pay the $250 for the precana, plus the 40 for Focus, plus the $800 bucks I have to cough up to get married at the church. Yikes, this is getting expensive.

Ours was $150 for an 8 hour seminar and that is not included in the donation

mine is $250 for two saturday's and FOCCUS included in that price because..hmm i forget why but all i know is that i don't have to pay for it..

ours was around 70 for a four week session but that was in house. If you take it out of your praish you could pay up to $200.

Wow you had to pay for FOCCUS? We didn't pay anything.

I would've much preferred to do it through the diocese and get it over with in one weekend but we're stuck going for the 6 nights (4 at the couples' home and 2 at the church)
