Re: How much is everyones dress?

My dress was a lot of money-- but originally I was deciding on another dress that was even more money. I ended up picking another dress- thinking it was more practical. I came home crying cause I felt like I would not look the way I wanted to on my wedding day-- I cancelled my order two days later.

Basically in the end, I got a dress that was still a lot of money- but 1500 less than the original one I wanted- so a bit more palettable (sp?).. and I am so happy with it- and have not second guessed it once.

If you can find the money- and this is the dress you have your heart set on it-- I say go for it-- It was such a bad feeling when I felt that I settled on a dress. I mean, when else is it even normal to spend that kind of money on a dress anyway- this is the one opportunity to spoll yourself!

Re: How much is everyones dress?

I second Burton's. They came in at 60% less for my dress than any other salon on LI that carried it. I found Bridal Reflections to charge more for the same dresses than some other salons.

Re: How much is everyones dress?

Mine was $1,020. I did try on ones that were over triple that, but this one looked the best on me. I am happy because this is more in the range I wanted to spend, although I would have been willing to go higher if there was a dress I couldn't live without. If it is in your wedding budget and you absolutely love it, then go for it. How important is your dress to you overall? Are there other wedding details that are more important to you and the extra money could be used there?

Re: How much is everyones dress?

What makes me mad is that I know they charge that much because of the name and thats so stupid. I guess its somewhat important, and I could find the momney, my mom said she would split it with me, but the thought of spending 5,000$$ makes me kind of nauseous. I love it though, and it seems like every other dress just looked blahhhhhhhhhhhh on me.

Re: How much is everyones dress?

Just a thought...for less money could you have a dressmaker make a similar dress for you?

Re: How much is everyones dress?

mine was $598, it's by Ginza.

I agree with the 'you get what you pay for' but for me this is exactly what i want. My style is very simple - while i think that all these dresses are beautiful, i think if i got a really ornate dress, beautiful as it may be, my family would think 'why is she wearing that?' just because it wouldn't be my style...

I tried on a few more expensive, more detailed dresses, but they just weren't me - this one, however, everyone that has seen it has said, 'THAT is the dress'

Good luck with your decision though - it is a gorgeous dress, maybe you can find it, or a simliar dress somewhere else if you don't want to spend the money.

Re: How much is everyones dress?

Have you tried the Bridal Garden in Manhattan? All couture samples for half the price - I fell in love with an Amsale there that was 1200 - originally priced at 5K. If your taste is expensive, you can find a good, clean sample for much less there. (the one i loved was dirty - but that is not a the case with most of them!)

GREAT point -- Belleepoque's exquisite Ulla-Maija was from there -- she has posted lots of pics. Plus, the fees from those dresses go to support breast cancer research. YAY!

Re: How much is everyones dress?

I feel bad that this happened to you. Honestly, the salespeople helping you at BR should have warned you before you tried it on how much it cost.

I went to BR in Massapequa. My dress was $3K, and I totally fell in love with it and my mom decided I had to have it. I will be forever greatful to her for that.

That dress is GORGEOUS. Good luck making your decision, its such a tough call!

Thanks, Bunny You are the sweetest. I am going through dress regret. I feel like I picked practical, rather than just saying screw it, I deserve this. Oh, and I'm not wearing the halter. Unfortunately, it looks all wrong on me. So it will be strapless....

Re: How much is everyones dress?

I've worked at a bridal store before and the average price is not $5,000!!! Proabably anywhere between $1000-2000, for a excellent dress, but many companies are cheaper then that...

CKGM, your dress is beautiful and very stylish!

Mine's not moviestar quality, but it's exactly what I had in mind and makes me feel like a bride. I paid right about in the middle range, but I would have been happy to pay big money for the perfect one.

Re: How much is everyones dress?

Yikes! But I will say that I got my dress at BR in Carle Place and it was too much $$ so I didn't buy it...2 weeks later they followed up with me to find out if I was interested in it and I flat out told them it was too much $$...they put me on hold for about 10 minutes and took 500 off the price...the dress was originally $1500 and I wanted to spend $1000..I was shocked..
