How much is too much?? PIC UP!

Original post by Lools

I found a gown over the weekend that I am in love with and can't stop thinking about. It is a Yolanda Couture gown and it's $3500. My FMIL said we can do it if we find nothing else that compares. She is also in love with it too & my sister almost cried. FMIL and I are going shopping again this weekend just to keep our options open. The gown I'm talking about was just absolutely perfect for me, it suited my figure and my personality PERFECTLY! We wanted to keep the gown under $2500. I feel almost sick about spending that kind of money on a dress I'll wear only one day, but my FMIL says she doesn't want me to settle. What do you girls think?

**EDITED**
WOW all you girls have been GREAT!

I'm gonna try to post a pic of the gown. I don't like the pic they have on the website because it doesn't show the true beauty of the lace and beading and the back of the dress because the model is sitting down. Also, I would wear it with a sash around the waist which also makes it look even more beautiful!!

I am going to keep looking because I do have some time, but like a lot of you have said, if nothing else compares and I find myself still thinking of this gown I will just go for it. I don't want to look back at my photos and know I settled! Ok, here goes....

THIS DEFINITELY DOES NOT SHOW IT'S REAL BEAUTY! When I put on the gown and saw myself in the mirror as I walked down the hall from my dressing room my little heart lept and I got a huge smile on my face!!

Personally, I would not spend that much on a dress, but that is because I was footing the bill...it is definitely a personal decision.

I paid about $4200 for my dress and I don't regret it for a second! I wanted something very specific and probably wouldn't have been able to find it cheaper.

If you love it I say get it! If it's not going to kill your budget you'll regret that you didn't buy it

It's gorgeous-but I would keep looking, to keep costs down.

The dress is gorgeous! If you can swing the $, go for it!! If not, look around for similar styles from more reasonably priced designers. I know Maggie Sottero's 'Grace' collection is similar and probably a bit more affordable. (My best friend wore Grace in February and was GORGEOUS!)

go for it, if you felt so happy in it, then it's the dress!
sure you're wearing it for 1 day but this is your one chance to splurge for a good reason!

wow...it is beautiful - I think i'm going to go with a cheaper version (no satin under the lace) from David's Bridal....but I can't afford that much on a dress! But it IS beautiful!

That is beautiful!!

The dress reminds me a bit of Maggie Sottero's 'Grace'... maybe that is a more affordable option??

I am in a similar dilema. I found a gorgeous Reem Acra dress, but it's more than my mother would like to spend. She said I could put money towards it myself if I really wanted it, but I just can't see spending that much money, so I'm on a search to find a similar dress that I love. If you can do it, I'd go for it.
