FH and I are invited to a wedding soon and do not know how much to give as a gift. It is one of FH old friends from high school that is getting married. He talkes to this person 2 or 3 times a year and has seen them once in the last 8 years.
FH and I will only be going to the ceremony, we cannot make it to the reception (which they are paying $55 a head).
Anyone know how much we should give as a gift?
Thanks ladies!!

Personally I don't think it matters how much the person is paying per plate. Even if someone was having a BBQ wedding in their backyard. Who cares how much they spent? I would give what you would normally give. I think $100 is being cheap and I defiantely wouldn't give something off their registry. It isn't a shower. JMHO
I sort of agree with this I am the same way with I dont care where the wedding.. a backyard bbq or the plaza we try to give the same to everyone... but if this is a 'Friend' who you hardly see or talk to... and arent even attending... then I dont think $100 is cheap at all

Even if you are not close to the person, and are not attending the reception?

Summer05, there are a lot of different opinions on this topic. Just give what you feel is right. A lot of people skip the ceremony, but that's the most important part! You're planning on sharing that experience, and I'm sure the couple will be pleased with that, and whatever you leave behind.
