Ive been to an all inclusive resort in mexico for 7 days and paid about 1k pp...mexico is not expensive
yup. FH and I stayed at Secrets Capri in Rivera Maya for 6 nights and didn't spend 3000 total at all.

my worry is that people will not come, i know it will be small and I am totally OK with that, but I dont want it to be TOO small... hoping for 50 close guests. So I want to make sure money is not the issue for people.
and p.s. most people who have destination weddings do not expect any money at all, at least we dont expect anyone to give us a dime actually, we'll be happy just to have everyone there
The resort we are looking at is about 1500 per couple for 4 nights...and that is not including the discount we will get for booking the wedding. I think that should be do-able for those close to us.

have you looked into Excellence or El Dorado ? We honeymooned at Excellence Playa Mujeres and it was amazing and really reasonable. I think El Dorado was even cheaper
we are looking at el dorado actually!
el dorado is more expensive tho

I would say it really depends on the person and our financial situation. Its always nice to have a reason to go away but thats a big commitment!

my friend got married in Mexico a few weeks ago and it was coming out to about $1200 per couple......she had roughly 25-30 people there ......... unfortunately we weren't able to make it being that we are getting married in a few weeks but would have loved to otherwise. It is a big committment but those who are important will find a way to be there!

oh okay, it's 1500 PER couple. That is much more feasible for most people.
I thought about a destination wedding myself and always wanted to go to one but will definitely have to weigh out many options. For example, if I were invited to one right now, I would have to decline even if it was a close friend because FH and I can't afford 1500 when we're planning for our own wedding. We're not taking a vacation at all this year as a matter of fact.
After we get married, I can def see myself attending a destination wedding if I was close to the person and using it as a nice vacation.
Just be prepared for and not try to be hurt when people you really want there decline.

we actually jsut went to a destination wedding in aruba.. we stayed three nights and 4 days and spent about 2500 for both of us. the hotel was all inclusive and for that alone it was 679 per person for double occupancy. they only had about 82 people there but to me that wa a big turnout for a destination wedding. it was nice though. I would say go for it, but dont expect the normal gifts people would give you if it were at a RH here and dont expect everyone to come that you invited. good luck
