How often do you speak to your FMIL?

Random question: Are you close to your FMIL? Do you call her and talk to her like you would your own mother etc? I love my FMIL but I literally don't talk to her unless I see her (on holidays). She doesn't call the house phone, she calls FH's cell so I dont get a chance to throw in the occasional hello.

My FH said something to me last night asking me why I never call her and saying that she loves to hear from me.... but I have nothing to say to her. My FH talks to my mom all the time but we live close to them and see them alot... but now he made me feel bad. lol.

We speak when I go over to the house, so maybe once a week to two weeks. But not like calling up on the phone every day. Maybe it's because we still both live at home, so a more 'immature' relationship in that regard.

I also have a FMIL who doesn't really speak English, so I can't talk to her. She is very nice to me, but we're not going to have a close relationship because of the language barrier.

my fh's mom passed away 4.5 yrs ago and his dad lives about 45 min away so we really dont see eachother much. my fh works near his dad so when he sees his dad its usually after work so i hardly get to go. i really do need to make a trip out there more often though, i feel bad.

I don't live with FH so I only talk to FMIL if she calls him and I am next to him and he has the phone on speaker. Otherwise I will e-mail her occasionally. Speaking of which, I've been meaning to.

me and FH don't live together and he still lives at home with his parents, so when i go over there me and FMIL do talk and have conversations, but she doesnt call me and i dont call her - at least not yet! i am sure when we get married we prolly will end up talking on the phone, or at least when she calls to speak to FH that is! but one thing is true, my mommy is my mommy and she will never come close to being like my mom!! =] as much as i do like her and get along with her and she has been there for me, i love my mom dearly and i dont think id ever be able to call my FMIL 'mom', lol! =] but yes we do have a good realtionship and i guess i could say im lucky cause ive heard horror stories about FMIL!

My FMIL passed away while we were dating so I really never got to know her...

reading these posts make me jealous...

Sometimes I wonder if she was alive how our relationship would be ...

Just an update... I spoke with FH about how i feel bad that I am not that close with her, and we got to talking... Long story short, he implied that I was a little rude because I dont plan on calling his parents 'Mom & Dad' after we get married.... He said thats what he is going to call my parents... Well good for him if he wants to do that.. but they are NOT my mom and dad and I dont think I can ever call them that... I dont even call them by their first names how am I supposed to just switch to 'mom'.. no way.. I have my mom and thats good enough.

With that being said, I think i'll give the FMIL a call this weekend......maybe.....

His mom only when we visit them which is like once every 2 weeks.

But my mom and I talk like 5 times a day.

we get along great. I love her! FH doesnt have any sisters so I make sure I include her in everything.
