How soon....

For everyone that has booked their florist already, how soon did you book them?

once i figured my bm dresses i booked the florist but i only did the flowers for the bridal party

After today i'm choosing a florist. So i'll be booking this week probably.

Here's why, I made a ton of appointments for next month, and when I asked the florists if it is to soon they all said they are meeting with people now for weddings around my time of year.

So my Dad today asks me,... 'why are you meeting with them now'... So I tell him.... he wants me to use this local florist we use for everything which I would have no problem with except last time I was there for my Aunt's funeral the guy told me not even to talk to him about flowers before NEXT SPRING! I don't want to wait that long and I met florsits at different showcases whom I really like.

Same here. My florist is someone I grew up with and went to elementary, junior high, and high school with. He used to do floral arrangements at the Waldorf Astoria. I was at his grandfather's funeral back in January, and he asked if I booked a florist yet. I said no, and he told me not to b/c he wanted to do it. No arguments there!

i just booked my florist-i guess i prob went a little out of order, but im doing my vendors in the following order:

rh (done)
photography (done)
florist (done)
dj (doing now)
videography (we just decided that were getting it)
limo

i would call and sw someone else and ask again if your dad wants you to use them try and see if you can get an app.

OK so from the sounds of it. I am not completly insane for wanting to look/book a florist sometime in the next 2 months. Thanks for the reassurance everyone!

I have also booked my florist. I was happy to get this one checked off the list!

I do not have to pick my actual flowers, colors, centerpieces, or make any of those decisons until about 2 months prior to my wedding. The florists don't even order your flowers until 2 weeks prior to the wedding. So, it wasn't too early to book the florist. Basically, I just made a deposit to book my date. When I meet with them in April next year, I will then have my colors and types of flowers (I have no idea at this time).

So, maybe your florist meant you dont need to talk to him until next spring since thats the earliest he will discuss everything - which seems to be the norm.

I booked with the florist in March. I don't have my bridesmaid dresses picked yet, but I thought the sooner i booked the florist the better, since vendors have been booking up early.

Honestly, I am waiting a bit to book my florist. Right now, I am working on booking a DJ and I figure I won't do the florist until I have my BM dresses. Some feel its nice to get things over with but I am taking my time, otherwise, I feel too stressed and this process won't be enjoyable lol.
