Hyatt Kawaii Under Construction 4/03-12/03

Original post by HappyEverAfter

In my research on where we should stay in Hawaii, I ran into this post on weddingchannel.com. Thought you ladies might want to take a look...

**WARNING: Kauai Hyatt Under Construction 04/03 - 12/03**
I just read the following bulletin about the Kauai Hyatt:

IMPORTANT INFORMATION (08/30/02) The Hyatt Regency
Kauai Resort and Spa will be replacing its roof
beginning April 2003. The expected finish date is
December 2003. Taking small sections of the roof, they
will remove the old tiles and add the new tiles onto
the sub straight. As each section is completed, the
surrounding landscape will be restored. Periodically
from June through December they will finish painting
the exterior of the resort. This will entail
scaffolding and hanging ladders around the perimeter
of the building in scheduled phases--June 12-July 18,
August 12-September 13, and November 18-December 20.

I wanted to make sure that anyone else planning a 2003 Kauai honeymoon had this information before they made their plans.

I am going to Kaui first from the 20th of May to the 25th then oahu for 2 days and Maui last from 27th to June 2nd.

The Sheraton is supposed to be nice, I was thinking of staying there at first.

There is a minimum 3 night stay, which is great, b/c I'm staying 5 nights

Okay everyone, here is what I got. I'm not sure if the TA discounted b/c of the situation of me switching or not, but here's the deal.

5 Nights Maui - Mountainview room @ Hyatt
5 Nights Kauai - Ocean view room @ Princeville, breakfast included every morning. (tax & svc charges included)
All round trip and interisland airfare
Rental car......... (i believe Im gettting a jeep)

I didnt receive the new package in the mail yet, but it will cost about $5800 (and change)
I was paying $5700 before.
This price also includes insurance just in case something happens...........

I believe this is a great price. Even when I was internet surfing, I couldnt find a better deal.

Yes, I'm using the TA from Liberty Travel in Merrick. I'll FM you her info.

Let me know if you all have any more questions.

I got garden view room at princeville for 5 days,
mountain view at hyatt in maui for 6, and garden view at outrigger Oahu for 2 days total without insurance; $5700 too how funny

Liz, that's a great deal - we got a very similar deal with our Liberty Travel TA - we paid less b/c we used DH's FF miles, but everything else was the same.

That's too bad about the Hyatt Kauai, but I've heard WONDERFUL things about Princeville too. If the hotels were closer, we would have visited the Princeville one day, but we were too lazy to leave the resort

I stayed at the Maui Hyatt during the pool renovation, and I was pretty bummed about that. I've never been to a swim up bar before! (just that area was closed)
But the rest of the hotel area was fine. It's so beautiful to be in the pool overlooking the bright blue Pacific ocean......ugh - I wanna go back!!!!!
