I am feeling bummed...UPDATED added scar pics at bottom- not for long...cuz ew

so- i have been researching and looking into bpics for fh. And I have been considering what I would wear, and I have all these cute ideas. But- i keep wondering if I should be looking for stuff that covers my scars (from open heart surgery with bypass, so i have the one on my chest, the few on my belly from minor surgery and the LONG one on my leg from the bypass)

AND its not the covering it up thing that bothers me- its just making me feel bad about my scars. NOW i almost NEVER feel bad about them. But every once and a while i become VERY aware of them. ANd generally I am proud of them because of the time in my life that they represent, but again...every once and a while I feel like 'ah man.'

If i thought you girls wouldn't be grossed out (or wanted to see them!!) I would post the pics I have from the hospital so you could see where all the scars are...but they are brusied and stuff and those pics were taken the same week as the surgery, and even though for some reason i would LOVE to share them, i don't wanna make poeple sick!!!!

sigh...

I'm sorry you feel bummed about them... but I think you should be proud of that time in your life. You survived surgery on your heart!! That is amazing!!

My suggestion would be to call some of the photogs that do the bpics, explain your situation and see if they have any ideas on how to give the illusion like showing parts of your legs, or a different angle so you won't see them...

Keep your head up!

thats just the thing. I would NEVER delibrately cover or hide them...its just- honestly, I see all the girls who post pictures of them in thier dresses, and think about all those pretty close ups with the top of the dress and mine has a scar in the middle of my chest....

SIGH!!!

BUT it could be worse. I know this all may seem silly to some people, but I can't help it. THANKFULLY it only happens like, once every 6 months!

I agree! Wear them proudly! Those scars are the reason you're alive. FH doesn't mind them. They're an indicator of how close he was to either never having met you, or losing you.

You'll be gorgeous with or without scars!

this is true.

I think the other thing is that there is this show that is doing my story for an episode. Nothing big. But recently they had to do all these interviews with my sisters and parents about the whole thing, and I heard about things that I didn't know even happened- like, they asked my sister when she knew my accident was serious- and she said that she knew when the doctors sent a social worker to sit with my three sisters to tell them how to 'deal with the death of a young person.' And that person who was that close to death, was me. I think that my issues with my scars come when I get into phases of disbelief about the whole thing.

ITA with what all the other girls said! Don't worry about the scars! I'm sure these photographers have enough experience so that they can minimize the scars or position you in the right angles. And I think you should take some with them showing - this is who you are and you are here now b/c of those scars. I'm sure whatever you do, it'll come out great!

Don't worry so much! I'm sure FH loves you and your scars. If they weren't there and were airbrushed out or somehow absent, would it really be you? There isn't much to do to hide a sternotomy scar, especially in lingerie! The leg I'm sure you could just not take a close up of that side of your leg. If you wear fishnets, it won't be obvious either.
I don't mind seeing pics, I work in a surgical ICU. Nothing grosses me out. LOL.

What about some jewelry, like lots of pearls or shiny stuff around your neck and drooping down your chest to kinda cover them but not hide them??

Re: I am feeling bummed...

FH goes through this some times w/ the scar on his neck. I guess it wasnt suposed to be as large as it is but he gets asked about it a lot.

If you are REALLY that worried for the bpics, that is what photoshop is for.

BUUUTTT on the flip side - bpics (IMO) are to show FH who he really loves. That secret person that not everyone gets to see. FH loves you and that includes your scars. So show em off - no matter what the pictures are of YOU not your scars. They just so happen to be there!

Nothing grosses me out so if you want to post go ahead! I agree with the girls! Those scars are part of you and something you went thru! Nothing to be ashamed of or cover up. Your FH loves every part of you <3 If you are concerned tho you can always ask the photographer to edit them.

jsut to let you know - Jen airbrushes scars out unless you tell her not to. she airbrushed my hip scar out and my back scar. I didn't mind either way, honestly I forgot about them, but in certain pics she showed me it stuck out like a sore thumb, so i told her to use her jedgement Talk to her about it and see what she says HTH

the thing is while they get to me sometimes, I would never cover them up!!! I'm nuts. And I dont think its the pictures that are bothering me- look a few posts up at what I said about what I recently heard my sister say- i think that my mind gets confused that any of it even happened (the accident/surgery)

AND here are the pics!! (and one silly one) I will take them down becasue they are gross- but its interesting to share!

*****took pics down.

FH loves all of you! all of us have imperfectiosn that we wished we didn't have and we take our bpics and still think we look AMAZING afterwards.
granted you may feel a bit self concious about them but no matter who you are using, they cantotally air brush them out if you ask them to or you can accesorize and cover them up that way. a necklace here or position your leg just so another way to hide the scar. talk to your photographer, she will be able to position you best to display all your good in the best light possible

It happened almost 6 years ago. I went head on with a school bus. Severed my coronary artery, ruptured my tricuspid valve and had major tears between chambers. and then minor things (comparitively) like broken ribs, punctured lung, speel and nerve damage. Had bypass and valve replacement and then all the stitch work.

According to my doctors its one of those 'we dont know how you survived this' type of things.

But go big or go home, right? If you are gonna have an accident go ALL OUT. Hit the biggest vehicle on the road, and literally almost die..lolol.

the trick is that while the accident is all done, the recovery was long and painful, and its now something i deal with every day. Meds, and frequent trips to the hosptial. Recently I had a run-in that almost ended up with me getting a pace maker- but not yet, thank goodness. Its just hard because I don't have any memory of the accident. I don't get memories until like, 3 days later. I think thats why the scars freak me out. Its like evidence of something that I don't REALLY have any knowledge of, even though it effects my life every day.
