Re: I AM FREAKING OUT!
What kind of country club is it (golf, tennis)? Most of these places close for the month of January. I used to work at a few of them. Before you freak out, I would find out...they might just be closed!

Re: I AM FREAKING OUT!
That is very, very odd. If I were you I would drive down to the hall. Perhaps they close for a week, as a vacation. Don't wait, just go there and see what is up.
I found this online from August 2, 2002 Country Club Hearing Delayed Again By Joe Scotchie A hearing by a Federal bankruptcy court, one to decide the future direction of the Roslyn Country Club, has been delayed once again. Originally, the hearing was set to take place Monday, July 8 at a bankruptcy court in Islip. That hearing was postponed until Monday, July 22. The latter date was bumped too, and now the hearing has been rescheduled for Monday, Sept. 9 at the same Islip location.
The hearing concerns a lawsuit filed by the CCR of Roslyn, the company that operates the country club. The CCR, citing economic realities, is trying to raise membership fees for country club members. The defendants in the case are various civic associations and all property owners in the Roslyn Country Club area. According to Vincent Lentini, an attorney for CCR, negotiations between CCR and the civic associations failed to bring about an agreement on any fee increase. And so, CCR is going to court to have the yearly dues increased.
Currently, country club members pay $150 a year per family. Mr. Lentini has noted that it costs the CCR $34,000 a month simply to pay rent on the country club. Other expenses shouldered by the CCR include pool maintenance, lifeguard salaries, capital improvements, equipment costs, and utilities. Approximately 668 families are country club members. Mr. Lentini claimed that the $150 a year each of those families pay isn't even enough to cover a month and a half of rent payment.
Despite the ongoing legal proceedings, Stuart Fox, president of CCR, has said that he hopes for more negotiations with civic association representatives, ones that will bring a satisfactory conclusion to the entire situation. However, he has also said that residents who refuse to pay a court-mandated fee increase would lose their easement to remain part of the country club at the former lower rate.
For over five decades, membership in the Roslyn Country Club has been simply part of living in the country club area, located mostly around Club Drive. The entire development was built in the late 1940s by Levitt and Sons Inc. The builders made country club membership part of the entire homeownership package. The country club covers about 10 acres of land in Roslyn and offers a swimming pool, year-round tennis courts, a playground, handball courts, gardens, and a snack bar
Roslyn Country Club Club Dr Roslyn Heights 516-621-0333. I called and NO answer either. Don't panic just yet.

Re: I AM FREAKING OUT!
Patty has an excellent point! They are probably closed right now or also sometimes these clubs during the winter are only opened on weekends- for parties, tea, brunch and stuff!!! Relax! Take a deep breath and go there- I am sure everything is fine... Is there an answering system or is it just rings?

Re: I AM FREAKING OUT!
yes, it's golf and tennis and a huge swimming pool. Now when I think of it, it would make perfect sense for them to close for January! But wouldn't you than leave an outgoing message saying hi, call us back in arch we are closed for the winter or something?? WTF??? Oh, please let them just be closed for january! I already called Fh who workes on LI, he is going to drope by on the way home just to see what’s up!

Re: I AM FREAKING OUT!
I FMd LIW and asked them if they can help you figure this out. Perhaps they know someone over there, or another vendor works there a lot. Let's see what they say before you panic.

Re: I AM FREAKING OUT!
I didn't want to post that article, I found it also. Didn't want to make her too nervous, and I think the only answer is to go by there after work. It would be against a hell of a lot of laws for them to close and not tell contracted clients. Do not panic!

Re: I AM FREAKING OUT!
RELAX!!! I just called my country club where I am getting married.... It is one of those exclusive and ritzy clubs and when I called no one answered either.... I checked the club schedule and sure enough, they are closed for the holidays.... From 1/2-1/31 is their slow season--- expensive to heat, light and keep open when no one wants to come.... Since these clubs aren't catering halls and are not about parties, they close during the weekend too.

Re: I AM FREAKING OUT!
I hate to be the bearer or bad news, but when I picked up my album on Saturday, my photographer told me that Roslyn Country Club went bankrupt, and they are not hosting affairs. My photographer actually had a bride who was getting married there, and she had to frantically search for another venue that had her date open...I think she was able to book Westbury Manor, but it was my understanding that Roslyn Country Club had left her high and dry - and that she lost a lot of money.
However, I would still continue to track down someone at the club for a full explanation...don't just take heresay through the grapevine, b/c perhaps my photographer misunderstood some details of the situation. Good luck..I feel for you!

Re: I AM FREAKING OUT!
Sorry, more bad news. I have been trying to track down my catering hall guru all day. Finally at 11:30PM he calls me back. He said, 'although many country clubs do have limited hours during the winter months Roslyn Country Club does not. They always have someone in the catering office during business hours'. When I explained what happened to you he said, 'Not Good!'. He is tracking down the owners number and address for me. I'll advise as soon as I receive the info!
