Whatnow, its busy, but not really busy as in normal, but more like broken/disconnected/heavy volume of calls busy... Definitely drop by, and if noone is there I would totally cut the losses and focus on rebooking the new hall!!! hopefully just as nice and near roslyn. Was your full payment due at the time of final head count, and you would only be losing a deposit? I hope so, even though a deposit is a lot, its peanuts compared to the full paid affair.

Milleridge Inn is fabulous. Its great to hear that you have some good alternatives. A heck of a lot of stress at the moment, but in the end you may be better off! Let us know if we can help at all!!!

No way!!! They HAVE to give you back your deposit- grab your contract and you will see their liability. Also you could do a class action lawsuit against them for breach of contract with any other party throwers fotr this!!! Don't think about this just yet though- focus focus focus- book a place and then just alert vendors to the change in location. Lucky thing you aren't in June or a crazy popular month!!! Also, did you l.ose money on invitations? Have they gone out or were they about to go out? Btw, thank your rabbi for all of us.... A gem for informing you. Many vendors wouldn't be as alert or caring! What schmucks!!!!

well, here is the latest news. my mom works for Telecommunication dept. of NYC and she found out from her sources that both RCC numbers were disconnected on January 13th for non-payment. Also, I got a number for National restaurant association and spoke to a woman there who said that she will try to find out what she can about the place and call me back. she was very nice and sympathetic so I am hoping she will get me some info.
oh, yes, the invites did go out! and the Club had a deposit of 3k, the rest was due at the final head count!

What Now, call the places you're interested in and book them asap!!! Then do the invites.
I am not sure you want to tell the other halls that you're stuck without a place prior to finding out a price. Then they may be less lenient to give you a discount. Find out the price first (i.e. pretend you're just booking and want to do it that day) and only when finalizing the contract mention any details that the whole thing is already preplanned (you know what I mean on this one, right)
I am sorry you just found this out now, and have to do everything over again, but at least you didn't find out that the hall is closed on the day of your wedding!!!

I agree to do everything asap, however, if you let these halls know your predicamant, they may be very acommodating with prices etc b/c of your unique situation. I had a friend that this happened to (granted b/c of 9/11) but the new place honored all her costs of the orginal place she booked. Good luck and pls let us know if we can help! Oh, and stay calm!!!!

I used to work at the Milleridge as a banquet manager.. they will take GOOD care of you.. so if they are open, book them.. also, you might be able to get a really good deal since it is so close to your date. Their food is great as is their staff.. and their bakery is amazing.

Hello -- I don't post often but couldn't help it on this one. Not sure where you are at on finding other places, but if you're having trouble finding availability, I bet Bourne Mansion would be available.
Bourne Mansion weddings are run by Lessings Caterers. Lessings has been in business forever, but not too many people know about Bourne b/c they just started doing weddings at this location this year. I wondered about this before I booked my wedding there but then was reassured by MANY people that Lessings does a great job no matter where they go.
Anyway, if you like mansion weddings and great food, this could possibly be a solution for you.

PS - probably not what you want, but i LOVE my catering hall. The Vanderbilt Mansion at Dowling, in Oakdale, and when I booked in November they still had some March dates open. Well, this is what I found out after calling everyone in the world including the Central Islip bankruptcy court. RCC filed for bankruptcy, chapter 11 in August. In January the case was dismissed by a judge. As I learned Chapter 11 means in a way temporary bankruptcy with a chance to reorganize. Judge dismissed it because he didn’t think they have enough money to reorganize. The clerk also told me that RCC was suppose to send a claim form to everyone whos money there were in possession of, however they didn’t cause we never got anything and they ARE in possession of our 3K. Right now the company is just 'closed'. We can file a creditor’s claim when they file for bankruptcy again, which as the clerk said always happens because people just keep on filing till the get the bankruptcy status. Meanwhile we have 2 appointment tomorrow: Milleridge Inn and Jericho Terrace.
