I just called to rent a Church hall in Brooklyn for July the second. I know I am cutting it close. They are booked. I am so upset. Does anybody else know of a cheap place to hold a reception. I am almost desperate. We just wanna get married already. It does not have to be fancy, just presentable. Please.

Re: I am on a budget and need a hall ASAP!!
Sorry but had to bump. I still need some help ladies. I really would like a placew that I could have an outside caterer. I am awaitng a price of a loft in Brooklyn, but I think if it is over 2500, I am going to have to pass since I would probably have to rent everything including tables and chairs.

Is an outside caterer necessary?
There is a bride on 06 doing abackyard wedding and she's getting a LOT for her rental, fine silver and china, linens, etc...

No an outside caterer is not necessary. I spoke to the guy at the KofC in Seaford. He wanted $46 plus 18% service charge and tax. I asked him if I can get rid of the cocktail hour and he like just cut me off and said that was the lowest he cn give me. I really do not think the cocktail hour is necessary. As a matter of fact, I will be happy with just a cocktail party if there is enough food to make my guests full. I really do not want a huge fancy party. I just want something fun and easy going. I do not know what the big deal is. Why can't I find a place that just serves dinner and some booze that will not cost me $60 a person? I swear, if I had a big house, I would just have it in my house!!

you might want to try the Bridgeview Yacht club and see for an afternoon how much they are willying to come down. I know you can rent out coyote grill (they own this facility) for may hours (no alcohol) for 35 dollars a person and you get a lot of food, and you could do the ceremony on the deck on the water. I think they would be flexible with the menu and pricing they only require a min of 2,000 spent which for 200 people is only 10 dollars a person! Good luck

This is a VERY good price. And I don't know I think a lot of people who goto weddings look foward to the Cocktail party. JMO though.

maybe you should just check out a restaurant and reserve the whole restaurant for your event, it may be cheaper than a reception hall and you don't have to rent chairs/tables/and have a cocktail hour. Maybe they can set up a buffet or a preselected menu etc...But I know in searching for halls in LI some of the cheaper ones I visited in 2004 were - Floral Terrace, in Queens, Westbury Manor, Cresthollow country club, Riviera, Jericho Terrace. I went to a wedding at Astoria Manor and I think they are affordable.

Try the Montauk Club in Park Slope Brooklyn. It's nice and from what I hear it's pretty affordable.
Also, try the Society for Ethical Culture, they rent their space. They too are in Park Slope.

You could also try the boat that is a museum off the harbor here in Brooklyn. Can't remember the name but if you do a search you should find it.
And there's Prospect Park, they have a few buildings that they rent out for events.
Another option is Giando on the Water here in Brooklyn, they're relatively affordable.

I agree with all of the sugesstions aboe. What is your budget?
I wanted to say that since you are planning so close to the date a place that has the date still open will be anxious to book it and give you a GREAT deal.
Also in Queens try Le Cordon Bleu. They have really reasonableprice and GREAT food
My parents got married at Le Cordon Bleu like 35 years ago!! We were just looking at their menus and they were telling us about it...
How about Patchogue Manor or West Lake catering? I have heard both are super reasonable.

$46 plus service charge and tax- that is CHEAP!! That is far less than half of what alot of us are paying pp- IMO I would go for it, I don't know how much lower you can get!! Besides, the cocktail hour is where people do alot of mingling- totally worth it. We are spending alot of $$ on our cocktail hour just for that reason. JMO

I agree, it is very cheap! Is this including liquor? If so, that's a steal girl! I know you're stressed about money and wanting to do it now...but $46 + grat and tax is only $59.00 per person. For 200 people, that's $11,800 for food and drinks at a really nice place. You can get bargains (or free) photo and video on craiglist and find a cheap dress at David's or the like. You can probably have a 200 person wedding for well under $20,000 (well under! - maybe closer to $15,000). Think about what you want and don't want and as long as there are no regrets either way, go with what you want. Another alternative would be to have it at a hall but do buffet style...it might be less than that. Have you looked into Glenn Terrace in Brooklyn? My fi's brother had his reception there a few years ago and I know they are budget friendly. The restaurant suggestion is also a good one. My sister had her reception at a Spanish restaurant and had a yummy buffet, open bar and free DJ (since it was the restaurants DJ)...all together her wedding for 100 people was under $5000. It depends on what you want and what you look for. Don't panic! As long as you have the money, you CAN plan a wedding for July...my sister did hers in a month.
Good luck!

There's a Knights of Columbus in Oceanside, not sure how much it is, but it is really pretty from the outside. Maybe give them a try...good luck!
I was just there last week for a bridal showcase and the place is great and I think the package starts at $30 pp. Centerpeices and linens included. Good Luck!!

Try Patchogue Manor 475 1725. They have complete packages ( dj, photo, limo etc) for 7595. They will work with you if thats not what you are looking for. Very reasonable

I actually found a Kof C in Brooklyn for $32 pp. I am sure there is no CH, but it is open bar. Good right. And I really wanted it at night but it is taken. I am gonna have to take the afternoon, but that's ok. We'll probably just go out clubbin' with thte OOTers.
