I love FH to death and can't wait for the wedding but I am emotionally and physically exhausted. I can't even get up in the morning anymore. What's more, I am so disappointed in the lack of support we have received from people. We are paying for every bit of this wedding ourselves (which is fine and I knew this going into it) but it is so draining on us. I am not eveN looking for the monetary support, just moral. My bridal shower is planned for August 14th and the invites just went out last week. A lot of people will not be able to come because of the short notice and the fact that many of our guests live out on the island (it is in the city). FH's own mom and sister will not go they do not want to travel into the city. I found out that FH and a couple of my friends hounded my dad and sister about the shower and they would accept no help saying that 'it was being taken care of'. They had never asked me for a shower list or about my registry, FH forced it on them just a few weeks ago through a series of e-mails. My sister (MOH) couldn't even be bothered to make up the invites; my dad did them instead and put her name cause she was too lazy. The Rehearsal Dinner (another one of our expenses) is a messy situation as well. The invites go out soon but FH has started letting people know. He spoke to his father a few weeks ago to which he replied 'I hope you don't need me there.' Apparently he has been so busy with work, he may not be able to go. His mother than will probably not go because she refuses to go anywhere without the father. He also told his sister and she said that her husband and son will definitely be there but could not guarantee herself. She has a two year old and has no babysitter. Another one of my bridesmaids just refuses talk to me anymore cause I think she is jealous. I am just disappointed in a whole bunch of people right now!! I will need someone to go with a fitting with me this weekend (the seamstress wants someone to teach the bustle) and asking my sister or anyone of my friends for a favor is like pulling teeth!! Nobody wants to help me at all!! Anyway, for those patient enough to have read this, thanks for letting me vent. I feel a lot better!!
That's terrible. You know some people I know don't really want to help or take interest either. My mom takes some interest but honestly only went one place w/ me,(to look for my dress) She has not done one thing else to help me yet. I also brought my aunt w/ me to look for a dress, the whole time she was like 'Is that the last dress' 'Can we go now Im so tired' I felt bad its like why did she come if shies rushing me. My mom kind of did too. Really the only person that seems to be doing thing w/ me for this wedding is my FH. My MOH came along to look at wedding gown too, but that's it. No one seems to take tons of interest in my wedding either, but what can I do? As far as your FH mother and father, that is not right. But you should just not worry and try to enjoy yourself and relax. If you keep worrying about their negative attitudes you'll feel much worse. Just try to concentrate on the good and don't worry.
