I have been thinking things over and have decided that it will not be appropriate for me to be your maid of honor. It think that position is for someone whom can share in the joy of this marriage with you and is a person that you truely respect for their qualities. As a result of my decision, I will not be responsible for giving you a bridal shower, and Danielle will not be a flower girl in your wedding.

from what i understand, she got mad that my FI called my SIL to tell her that my sister shouldn't have party at my mom's house. you see, when my sister (MOH) asked me if there was anything i did or didn't want for a shower, i just said (1) not at anyone's house, (2) not expensive or fancy and (3) not in the summer b/c i don't want to ruin anyone's wknd. well, FI found out from his mom that my sis was having at my mom's house and he was 'annoyed' b/c my sister has been VERY selfish and hurtful to me in the past (we've only begun speaking again over the past 7 months), and he was bothered that she wasn't respecting my wishes. then, he said that if it was simply a mtr of money, he would be more than happy to help. well, my SIL passed on the 'message', my sister got annoyed and on her high horse and when i got into work, that email was waiting for me.

I am so sorry minnie. That is horrible for her to do to you. Do you have anyone else who you are close with who you would like to be your MOH? This is your day, and should be enjoyable. Let her feel guilty for trying to make you miserable but it not working.

i know. i cannot even believe she could be so hurtful and selfish. when i asked her what danielle had to do with it (her daughter), she said 'well, danielle's my daughter - period'. she also felt that she didn't owe me an explanation.
my sister doesn't feel guilt. she's too selfish a person. she spends too much time playing the martyr act. in her eyes, she was 'wronged' b/c FI called my SIL to tell her this in the first place. she could have just called him to confront him if she was so upset, but she CHOSE to hurt me instead.

Oh, and by the way, my mom is no help; she is CONSTANTLY siding with my sister - constantly! She wouldn't even pick the phone up when I called her to talk to her. You would think that my wedding is going to be hard enough without my dad, that she would at least think before she did something so hurtful... this may be exactly what i need to wipe my life clean of her and my mom...

It sounds like a difficult situation.
If your sister and you have such a rocky relationship, and if she's prone to acting this way, maybe it's better that's she NOT your MOH after all. I know it's hurtful, but wouldn't you rather have someone standing beside you who is really 100% happy for you and there for you? It SHOULD be your sister, but unfortunately things don't always turn out the way we want them to.
Maybe you guys can work it out, talk it over and things will blow over. It just sounds to me like it's an ongoing problem, and there would be more issues along the way to make you miserable.
