I can't believe this

I can't believe this

If I haven't gone crazy I am now. About a month and a half I booked my hall/wedding and my dad bugged out. My dad called me today and needed to talk to me. Him and my mom came over. They went to Cresthollow Country Club which was on top of my list. They put a deposit and want me to get married there because they want me to have everything and more on my wedding!?! I don't know what to do?!?! I have contracts ( with other vendors) for Saturday night and they put a deposit for Saturday day. Oh and they offered to pay for the hall....Couldn't they have done this two months ago??? What should I do???

Wowzers!! Make a list, compare the two settings, and determine what your vision is for your day. Does it include day time or nighttime event? Are you willing to loose your vendors that u booked if they are not available? It's a huge gift but u need to see ur vision first!!

Hth good luck!!

Is Crest Hollow where you really wanted to have your wedding? If it is I would contact your other hall and see how much money you would loose by backing out now. And as for your vendors, I would see if they could adjust the timing in the contracts. That is a tough situation though, I know your parents were trying to be helpful but they kinda pulled the rug out from underneath you!! So sorry

Thats a great idea. I have until Saturday to decide. I'm going to sleep on it and with a clear head make a list. Maybe I'll call my dj, photographer, and officiant and see if they can change times? Ahhh...I told my fh we should of eloped!!!

Wow, your parents are doing something amazing for you, but probably should have talked to you first. I agree with the other girls, the four of you (parents, you & FH) need to sit down and figure out what you want to keep/change/etc. Hopefully the vendors will be able to just switch your times if you choose to go with the day time wedding.

You shouldn't have an issue with your photog because they should be yours essentially all day even though your wedding was scheduled for night. I can't see the DJ being an issue either unless they have another wedding before yours but it would have been cutting it close with end/start times. The officiant possibly. Keep in mind for a day wedding it may have a different feel than a night one and you have to up much earlier to get ready. As long as you are 6 months out Suffolk law states you can still cancel with an RH and only lose $100 I think, however our contract which I am assuming is similar to yours since its the same hall states otherwise so you may lose out, read your contract carefully. In all honesty I would go with the one you really want. GL!!!

Thanks for all the information. I always wanted a night wedding so I wouldn't have to wake up early. I think they are two totally different venues. I wouldn't want to lose my vendors. I picked them for a reason. ahhh

Though that is really nice of them they should have talked to you first or done this awhile ago. Some of your vendors will only book one wedding at a time so hopefully everything will work out.

If it helps, this law OVERRIDES any RH contract, and if it is the same Sat as you already booked, you really won't have any trouble with your vendors.

Re: I can't believe this

It's a wonderful thing your parents are looking to do for you but why can't they just pay for the venue you already booked? From what I've been told you have up until 6 months before the wedding to get like all but $100 back from your deposit if you do decide to cancel your current venue. Check the fine print on your contract. I know my sister switched venues and when they tried saying she was going to lose her whole deposit my mother called the BBB and they got it all back but $100 bc it was 6 plus months prior to the date.

Good luck with your decision!

Good Luck! Talk to your vendors and then make your decision. I understand being frustrated because im positive they were trying to be helpful and sometimes it just ends up causing more damage than good. But dont fret! Things will work themselves out

Its the same day but different times. My dad said he felt so strongly about it that if I dont get my deposit back he would give me the 500. My paremts are crazy. Today is exactly 6 months away!

Re: I can't believe this

Nope. I am going to talk to my vendors and go saturday to see cresthollow again. I went there like a year ago. I have until sat to make a decision for my dad to get his deposit back. Ahhh hU
