I had a HUGE FIGHT with my mother last night...

I think this is the biggest, ugliest fight ever!!
We fought over many many things but she also said that she will not give me anymore money and she regrets having an engagment party for us.

She is saying that she is not paying for our reception and that she is calling to cancel the reception all together.

Lots and lots of mean and nasty things were said both ways....I felt like crap the whole day today

I don't know what we are going to do if she refuses to pay for it we may have to cancel I don't know if we can afford to pay the whole thing ourselves.

Awww Kathleen, that stinks so bad. I'm sure your Mom doesn't mean all of the harsh things she probably said to you..especially about not paying for the reception. In the heat of an argument things are said that aren't meant. I'm sure your Mom is just as upset as you are and is regretting the things she said. Don't take things to heart. Just hang in there and I'm sure all will work out for the best. Don't start looking for new halls or act in haste. Play things out and see what happens. I think every one is just upset and all will be fine in a couple of days, if not sooner. Keep us updated. I send many your way!!

I'm so sorry! What did you guys start fighting about for her to say she didn't want to pay for your wedding and that she was going to call and cancel? Talk to your FI, even if just to help you calm then, then talk to your mother and reason with her.

I'm so sorry Kathleen!!! This is just a really stressful time for the both of you, which prob prompted the fight in the 1st place. I'm sure neither of you meant what you said and that you 2 can work things out and they'll get better. We're here for you!!!! Everything will be a-ok, don't worry!!

Ohh sweetie!!!!!!! I feel for you, i know it must be hard but people really do say stuff the NEVER mean when they are pissed/angry.....But to tell u the truth u can do it on your own trust me! I am, my dad was only cover a very small port of the hall & verything else is me & the honey. U guys can swing it, just dont' go crazy & have a budget & excel spreadsheet like us. We know what we have put away & what we have to pay off. If you need any help please please feel free to contact me! I know it very hard & we can all use lil help from time to time! I can't tell you how many really ugly fights I've had with my mom over the years. Trust me when I say it will blow over. I'm so sorry you are upset though

I hope everything is better Kathleen..I totally understand, I hate fighting with my mom. But it seems lately that anything I chose to do or say she takes offense at. I don't know if it's cause I am really offending her, or she just wants to pick a fight. Usually, she isn't this bad, but lately anything I do she seems to think I did on purpose to hurt her feelings. I don't understand moms sometimes.. You would think although this is a difficult time cause they are 'losing' us, they would want to be as close to us as possible and cherish the fact that we found someone so very special to spend our lives with.. I just don't understand... My moms latest thing is making sure that my dad matches what she is giving us.. so if my dad doesn't come up with X amount of $, she is only giving what he does. Hello?! You aren't hurting him.. you're hurting us! They just dont get it! Hang in there! Let us know how everything is... much love your way!!!

oh I sorry to hear that. Maybe things will just blow over and you guys will make up. I know I have gotten into some pretty nasty fights with my mom and she said some harsh things ! But in the end she is your mom and she loves you and those words probably were just said out of anger

Just give your mom a couple of days I'm sure that she just said that out of anger. I don't think that she would really cancel...if she doesn't come about then u be the bigger person and try to make up with her. Good Luck!!!

We are still NOT talking....

I just got home a little while ago from hanging out with one of my best friends who is getting married in a few weeks....and my FI was in class and I left him a message as to where I was and he didn't get it or something and he called my house looking for me and part of me was happy that she would be worried BUT she didn't try calling me to see where I was...I know that sounds like I am so mean but I am still soooo angry and looks like neither one of us is giving in anytime soon..oh well

Speaking from experience, and I know this is totally not relevant to your argument with your mom, but when you move out, your relationship with your mom will improve soooooooo much.
