IN MY DRIVE WAY

I have a spots car - yes
It is oh-my-god blinding bright yellow -yes
I have tint - yes

So Im coming home and as I make a right to go one block I see a white car oncoming.

I make the right then make the first left (my street) I always check my rearview in case someone doesnt see me making the turn and I see the white car making a three point u-turn.

I make the left and pull into my dirve (back in actually) As I do I see the white car making the left onto my street - Im on the corner

So I boogie to get out of the way when i hear the siren/horn sound. I hit the brakes and look forward to see the white car now has lights running in it's grill.

OK, I stop and this dumb wench walks up to my window and says the usual license, insurance regi .. whatever.

BULL, I already have one stupid ticket for innocently following a cop's instructions I'll be D*mned if Im gonna get another so I ask why (as she's now looking at my LEGAL police associate badge i have on my window (yeah, its legal a friend's father died in service)

You're tint's too dark

WHa?

So i give her the stuff when her partner guy comes out to lecture me I call my hubby and put him on speaker. I explain this is how we BOUGHT the car they say 'yeah, sure'

UHMM EXCUSE ME?

I have window stickers to PROVE it and its barely a year into our possession.

They have a little machine and prove my tint is too dark. So what?

He says 'Well everyone knows about tint, even as a kid' A kid??? excuse me ?? im 30 and you're MAYBE 35 .. are you JOKING

Well Im from Texas so I must have missed the NY lessons on tint jobs for cars

She says she's not happy with ANY of the tint jobs on my street. but point blank said get this

'I could pull anyone of these vehicles over, but I wouldnt, I would only pull over yours, and I'll pull it over again'



I said well Im not taking off the tint anytime soon its just not possible or reasonable.

they want me to remove the tint from both front windows AND the back window in ONE WEEK!!

I explained that's not possible. She said it better be.

How can I argue? Im in my own f-ing drive way!

They said 'they don't like to be on speaker phone' and refused to allow me to keep him on the phone

I hung up with jim so I wouldnt piss them off more

Better yet..
after I said I was going to lock up my car she cop-wench said 'We need to wait here' even tho i saw her partner get a call

I so start to figure --- hey your time witch. I walk to close up my car they said 'here's your stuff, we're giving you a warning, but we will find you'

my god its not even quota season yet

bad enough these jerks gave me a UNEARNED ticket on 110 a last year - thats what I get for following a cops instructions, he gave me a false ticket for riding the shoulder, when I was making a turn into the enterance. Admitted to the judge he couldn't remember my blinker on that direction but admits I used my blinker the two times he was paying attention (cause get this - he was watching me the whole time - again my yellow car) and the judge STILL saw in his favor!

3 points for doing NOTHING ILLEGAL

I hate NYS and its stupid stupid stupid rules Innocent people like me get these dumba$$ tickets when real criminals get a slap on the wrist

I should know I run MVRs all day!

You can get pulled over for a little bit of tint that came with the car when you bought it? That's crazy! I thought that you could only get pulled over if you had the really dark tint with the silver on it (you know what I'm talking about?)

Just in case you somehow don't realize, those people you are calling 'jerks, wenches' are my husband and many of my friends, along with a lot of other members' friends and family. I don't see your point in having to post such a thing on here. How do you not think you not insulting someone?

no offense, but that tint is too dark. if you bought the car in a different state, they may have different laws.

i have friends that get pulled over for tint all the time. no use in fighting over it!

Just make sure when you have an emergency you do not call 911 as you wouldnt want a stupid cop to come help you they may not know what to do!(my hubby is retired nypd)

there are definitely laws in NYS about the % of light that needs to pass through the windows. I think it's 20%, but I'm not sure. I don't know if you remember, but a cop was shot by someone who had really dark tinted windows. the cop went up to the car and when the driver rolled down the window, he killed the cop. very sad

My grandfather was NYPD and my FBIL is Suffolk County. Needless to say, not all police officers are like the ones you encountered.

Exactly right. My DH is NYPD and used to do only car stops - its a safety issue for them. You don't know what's hiding behind there.

Just in case you didnt notice I said I hate stupid cops.. and mentioned the two..

I have lots of cop family members, friends and so forth (you think I got a badge for being friendly)

I appreciate good cops more than you can possibly imagine. That doesnt make them all clean, all right or all fair

They are WAY too many cops out there abusing their rights.

Its a shame to those who work hard, honestly and for the safety of us all.

Ive been burned and saved by cops. LITERALLY

Car accident which a cop ran a stop sign without lights and blamed me

and even without 9/11 I can name times that Cops have really helped me and honestly say my LIFE was on the line

STILL not all cops are straight, fair or perfect and THESE idiots are examples and was the cop that I was being HONEST to and respectful to who just decided to fill his quota with me.

If you can honestly sit there and tell me every cop is honest, truthful and fair then..

well.. then... I'd like to live in your world.

So again, cops aren't all bad and aren't all good.

But what about a little pity for the woman who was harassed today but two cops in front of her house with all the neighbors watching. Or am I just the evil citizen?

It was lower.. it changed recently to 70% which is practically no tint (as I was told today)

The cop litterally said and yes I quote him

'all tint is illegal'

shocking and I asked him 'seriously, all?' to which his partner said yes and said the thing about all the cars in my neighbor being illegal but only mine would she pull over.

I can definatly see both sides of these issues. They make tints illegal to prevent tradegies from happening. My FI has illegal tint and when he gets a ticket he complains for a minute and pays it. However, there are so many cops who don't give a crap and are horrible. One instance was when my brother died. They actually destroyed evidence in the case and refused to look into it. I guess they didn't care too much about a 16 year old and his family. However, I have faith that there are some good ones out there too.

You definetely seem to have issues with cops and it comes through in your post. Just the title of your post rubbed me the wrong way. You were blatantly insulting quite a number of people on here. Instead of begging everyone to pity you and feel sorry for you over and over, pay the damn ticket like someone else suggested and move on already.

You're so right. i have an issue with crooked cops. If I insulted their relatives, Im sure they're used to it.

God Bless those who are just, honest and truthful.

I'll now step aside to allow all the meaningless and unjustified accustation and insults you can dig up to make you feel better about yourself for falsely judging someone you don't know ; about a situtation you choose to think of in a narrow light

Enjoy your personal vendetta against those who honestly tell how they may feel at the monent.

Enjoy your pursuit to convince those already convinced that all cops are prefect, but they obviously need someone like you to push that through

Enjoy your moment of glory while you go off on a subject you yourself roll your eyes on, since it obviously means so little you keep coming on this thread

Enjoy your little victory over this crime against the innocent in general. (oh and I dont have the ticket, thanks for caring)

And most importantly thank you so much for posting your thoughts and opinions as they mean so much to me and thank you for obviously ignoring my true, honest apology.

For the ladies insulted by the original remark..

I will also tell you my story and maybe you will understand the frustration.

I also came from another state and I dare you to show me in the DMV manual (you know the one they give you with all ther rules!) where the tint regulation is.

I bought my car (used) from a dealership. They inspected it, etc.

3 weeks later I was stopped on Northern State, flashing light and the whole things.. Trooper talking to me on the speakphone telling me to park in a angle so 'I would not TAKE OFF'. That was so embarassing.

I asked him what I had done and he told me my windows were too dark. I told him, yes they are but I just bought the car from a car dealership in Commack and they inspected the car. He starts telling me that I am responsible regardless. REGARDLESS???? I challenged him that the inspection machine is regulated by the DMV and who am I supposed to trust if people who are certified by the DMV to do this job are not doing it correctly?

Anyway, he is about to give me a ticket. And I was 'what?', not even a warning so I can get it fixed. He told to do it within 3 days, fill out paperwork and MAIL it to Albany with the 'temporary' ticket and it would be waived. Of course, since I went to law school I do everything by the book. I went the same day back to the dealership, had them fill out the paperwork and take off the tinting of the 2 front windows. Albany then replies to me telling that they cannot waive the ticket and I must go to Court in Hauppauge to do it. OR I can mail my $50. I got so mad. The trooper lied to me, I did everything I was supposed to do and to avoid the ticket I should go to court.

Well, for the principle, I went to court. The judge looked at me, rolled her eyes and stamped my 'voided' ticket.

NOW ladies, wasn't it a bit overkill of that trooper? I showed him I had just bought the car 3 weeks earlier.

Don't get me wrong but was justice served to protect the innocent by stopping me? I am sure issuing a ticket to someone driving at 100mph would have been a better use of his time.

Does that mean I think all cops are bad? No. Don't I deserve to call 911 if I have a problem? yes

I have quite a few cops in my family, and one of my very close family friends is a police widow.

Having said that I see nothing wrong with the original post. We all get pissed off, and it was her day to get pissed off at these 2 cops, who i think were being pretty rude and stupid 'I would only pull your car over', 'we will find you' it sounds like an abuse of power to me.

I understand how you're saying the tint rules are there for a reason. I actually didn't think factory tint on any car was bad. I thought it was the aftermarket superblack and mirrored stuff that was bad. but I understand how dangerous those tinted windows can be, but even if her tint is too dark, we've all gotten pissed about a ticket we got, even if we deserved it ro soemwhat deserved it, especially if the officer was less than courteous.

We all get pissed every day, at telemarketers, DMV employees, the IRS, whatever. There are good and bad of everything. Just b/c you're pissed about something one day doesn't mean you're necessarily generalizing about everyone.

instead of giving tickets to innocent people who arent aware of the tint laws. why not the police give fines to the car dealerships who are selling these cars? why are people acting so sensitive about you expressing your feelings? its not like you said EVERY cop is this way. i mean how many of these same women have made comments about lawyers,doctors or any other professionals? were they talking about everyone in that profession in general?
