I have a problem. I think I hate Chateau Briand....

Original post by hbradio

We went the other night to make a payment and check the place out......there is no way I am forfeiting the $2500 we already gave them but I am feeling like I dont like it there anymore. Theres nothng special about it - its ugly and I am so upset!

The tables are so cramped with stuff - I feel like the guests wont have room to move. There are no windows. Sure we can open the drapes if you want to see whats going on at the Office Depot across the street!!! People are going to be in and out of the room the whole time smoking cigarettes. Theres no area where you can casually stroll out - you have to literally walk out of the building.

I dont like the black curtain that the sweetheart table will be in front of. I feel like it looks like a school play. Theres so many more things - I am going insane!!!!

I dont know why I am feeling this all of the sudden. Have any of you had doubts about your hall?

Here are one of the pictures that we took - theres freakin' 14 chairs at this table and I think thats why its so cramped!!!

I was thinking about it and we arent going to change our venue. Whats done is done and we have to live with it now.....but thanks everyone for your advice - I appreciate it!

as far as the 'clutter' on the table. tell them that you only want a place setting and a goblet. this is exactly what we are doing. people can get drinks from the waiters and at the bar. make sure to tell the waiters to keep an eye on the tables and to clear off any empty glasses. another reason why it seems cramped is because it is an oval table. w/ this shaped table it is easy for the excessive amount of glassware to overpower the table.

i think your idea about adding more table (less people per table) is a great idea.

re: smoking. this is the LAST thing that you should worry about. the weather is very plesant at the end of april and as a smoker i don't mind having to go outside (i am sure your guests won't either).

talk to your florist and express your concerns. the room will look a lot diff when decorate w/ flowers and candles.

don't stress!

after reading the rest if the posts, i am shocked at some of these responses (2). she is expressing her doubts and uncertainity and seeking advise/encouragement. expressing your displeasure w/ her chosen hall is not helping the situation.

please think before typing.

I'm getting married at CB in the Saturnia room too. It wasn't my first choice either (I was at John Anthony's and I'm sure everyone knows what happened with that).

I had really wanted something that wasn't your typical reception hall and I thought that CB was just that. Now, I look at the wonderful things about it and I am fine with my decision and just knowing how great the service and the food is there is my main concern. I know my guests will be taken care of and that is what is most important to me....the last thing you want is your guests complaining and I really don't think that the room being dark will be a factor.

I think that the planning process gets us caught up in looking at the fine details of things that sometimes really don't matter. I just started on my invites and I was torn between 2 different types of fonts for them...then I stepped back and said, 'Am I crazy? It's a freakin invitation that people are just going to throw out!!!!!!'

Sometimes, you need to think about what the day is really about and just have fun!!!!! Don't worry about the little things, because you will be kicking yourself after wondering why you ever stressed about it in the first place!
